  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't think there's anything sinful about watching such a video, at least not in and of itself. However, if you're wasting time (stealing from God, an employer etc.) or if you're coveting something that God hasn't given you then yes it is a sin. If you're interested in being a doula or a maternity nurse or want to help with your friends or family who are pregnant, then there's no reason to believe such videos are sin.
Thank you so much for your answer the point is that I don't know an evident reason for this I believe that feel more interested and satisfied when I watch these videos especially videos that show pain or suffering

Is watching videos of women giving birth naturally considered a sin ?
I'm not sure why I watch these videos may to fill up the void in my life but since I watch them like everyday I feel like this has become an addiction or has dominated my life I'm afraid that God may abandon me because of this as whenever I pray to stop watching these videos I fail and watch them again. I'm really in need of advice

The reason for this is the old nature. The old nature can show itself in different ways. Most don't have this tendensy you have but have other problems, the root is the same and the cure is the same. I believe Jesus is the only one who can set you free from this. So seek his help with your whole life and heart. I'll pray for you!

The attraction isn’t due to an aspiring health profession. The additional posts will shed light on her issue. :)

Uh no its not a sin to watch women giving birth, it is a part of life that speaks of God's glory. It's like watching hours of national geographic. So yes it will put someone in awe. Now, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't address it if its affecting your day-to-day activity, then you have to address what exactly you would be escaping from mentally that would want you to retreat to watching videos in general all day. That's wouldn't be healthy.

I am just curious if you have ever went through any type of abuse or traumatic event. Sometimes it can be related to ptsd. Just that you are seeking help shows that you really are not a bad person. Too be honest I struggled with this for quite awhile myself. I still do at times...not necessarily pregnancy, but the suffering I can relate too. As I have started praying against that spirit when it comes around and repeating scripture/going into the Word to renew my mind, I don't struggle with the thoughts as much to watch things. I got rid of certain violent games and movies. It can be hard, but our flesh is weak. If I saw a person in real life hurt/suffering, I would run to their aide. I would never ever want to see anyone I love being hurt. Does it seem unreal to you when you are watchingg it? Called derealization? I am no counselor, but you are not alone, okay? If you need accountability pm me. We can be accountable for each other if you like. Renew ourselves in the Word. I tell you, getting rid of things help. Making lists of what to do in times of temptation help.

I agree with @lily00 - there is a far deeper psychological issue going on.

Trauma survivors "vicariously reliving" their trauma as post effect of PTSD; usually do so because they are trying to reconcile the experience. It's like a problem they are trying to solve; to make themselves react differently to the thoughts / emotions / memories that bring them pain. That does not usually entail enjoying other's suffering. That's a different issue.

Personally, if I found myself in the same thought / emotional pattern; I'd worry that my conscience was seared. @MaryNabil - since your worried about this though; that's a good thing. That would be a sign that your conscience isn't seared.

I know quite a bit about PTSD, but I don't know much about sadistic mentality, what causes it or how to overcome it. It's not something I've studied.

I do know this though; that even in terms of secular psychology, any behavior or thought pattern a person desires to overcome; they can do so, if they want badly enough to do what ever it takes to accomplish this.

Now how long it takes depends on how deeply the pattern is entrenched and the extent of over all dysfunctional patterns exist. Sadists commonly have other personality issues. Narcissism is common, due to a lack of empathy for other's pain. The difficulty there, is that narcissists tend not to be able to see their own narcissism. And you can't fix what you don't acknowledge.

Now taking for granted that you are telling the truth that you're female and you are living in Egypt; people who face a lot of oppression and see a lot of violence in society around them, can come to a place of "learned helplessness". From there the struggle becomes; am I going to be a victim, a perpetrator or something else? People who face those types of realities every day and find themselves "taking pleasure in other's pain" may be doing this as a means of trying to cope with the circumstances of life in the society around them that they can not change. If that's the case; a conscious choice needs to be made of "How am I going to deal with my life circumstances."

Regardless though, this can be said for anyone facing difficult circumstances even if in their society or culturally speaking, they are as "free" as they are ever going to be. Part of coping with the struggle though is in acknowledging that none of us are really free in this life anyways.

So if you want to overcome this; you probably need some time to contemplate your own thought process to know what's going on inside your heart. Pray to God to help you figure it out. You may never answer all the reasons why; but the goal is not to solve all your problems at once. The goal is to get from point A to point B. The journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step.

Yes like any sin, Jesus is the only answer. If youc with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame,

I used to have a similar issue and then I decided that every time I felt the urge to do that I would listen to some music and dance around until I forget about it. This eventually ended up with me dancing at 2 in the morning. Just get some great songs on and have dance. My grandkids told me about this song a couple of weeks ago and I love dancing to it now.

I don't see any particular harm in it.

To be totally honest, I also don't see anything appealing about it whatsoever. But hey, whatever blows your hair back. If you get something positive from watching those videos, go right ahead and watch them.

And God loves you Mary. Jesus Christ paid every price for you on the cross, and He has promised to never leave nor forsake you. He would never abandon you. Fights are never easy, but in the end we become stronger women of faith when we trust and lean in to God...even in our weaknesses. Even if you fail a hundred thousand times, never give up. If you pray believing and renew your mind in all things good and true in God's Word, you will overcome and be a testimony for God's kingdom.

Really I appreciate your words. They relieved my fears and gave me hope and that I can overcome this and God one day will hear my prayer and help me. Please pray for me to tackle this problem.
