Asked to join the Knights Templar

Today one of my colleagues asked me to join the Royal Arch order of freemasons, he himself is a Knight Templar, which seems like a pretty high degree. He said he was the former archivist for the Scottish Knight's Templar.

We were talking about holidays in Jerusalem, when I mentioned the temple he gave me a recognition sign. I had an elderly relative who was a knight of the Brass serpent, so I knew what he was doing. I explained that I wasnt a FM, but I knew of it. He then asked me to join.
He would sponsor me to 1st degree Royal Arch.

He descibed the initiation ceremony for the Templars. A white robe with a red cross on it, a sword and a white hat. Some of it based on the life of St Paul.

He says this order is for Christians only and I would really enjoy it. He said its mainly church elders and ministers in the templars and that I would make a lot of new friends there.

I dont intend to join but I wondered if anyone had any thoughts/ experiences they could share on this...........

I didnt know there was a lodge specifically for church members or that they are the Knights Templar!

Do you think a minister who was also a Knight, would this have an effect on what he preached?

I renounce the secret passwords, DEMOLAY-HIRUM ABIFF, FREDERICK OF PRUSSIA, MICHA, MACHA, BEALIM, and ADONAI, and all their occultic and Masonic meanings. Holy Royal Arch Degree

In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce and forsake the oaths taken and the curses and iniquities involved in the Holy Royal Arch Degree especially the oath regarding the removal of the head from the body and the exposing of the brains to the hot sun. I renounce the false secret name of God, JAHBULON, and declare total rejection of all worship of the false pagan gods, Bul or Baal, and On or Osiris. I also renounce the password, AMMI RUHAMAH and all it's Masonic meaning. I renounce the false communion or Eucharist taken in this degree, and all the mockery, scepticism and unbelief about the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. I cut off all these curses and their effects on me and my family in the name of Jesus Christ, and I pray for... (healing of the brain, the mind etc.)

I renounce and forsake the oaths taken and the curses and iniquities involved in the Royal Master Degree of the York Rite; the Select Master Degree with its penalty to have my hands chopped off to the stumps, to have my eyes plucked out from their sockets, and to have my body quartered and thrown among the rubbish of the Temple.

I renounce and forsake the oaths taken and the curses and iniquities involved in the Super Excellent Master Degree along with the penalty of having my thumbs cut off, my eyes put out, my body bound in fetters and brass, and conveyed captive to a strange land; and also of the Knights or Illustrious Order of the Red Cross, along with the penalty of having my house torn down and my being hanged on the exposed timbers.

I renounce the Knights Templar Degree and the secret words of KEB RAIOTH, and also Knights of Malta Degree and the secret words MAHER-SHALAL-HASH-BAZ.

I renounce the vows taken on a human skull, the crossed swords, and the curse and death wish of Judas of having the head cut off and placed on top of a church spire. I renounce the unholy communion and especially of drinking from a human skull in many Rites.

lismore i am just backie from jerusalem, worked there at a prayer conference. i watched the "kingdom of heaven" movie 2 times in the last 2 weeks, and am also fascinated by knighthood and all that stuff. i wouldnt join the masons for i know that its antichrist had some trouble with the mormons 4 yrs ago that still affects me a lot spiritually and emotionally. that robe of balian the blacksmith that orlando bloom plays in the movie does shure look hot ! scots wae hae...

Okay..I tried to go to that link and it immediately jumped from the first page to page 50 in the thread! Weird!!!! (insert twilight zone theme song, do DO, do do) But I found away to immediately click twice on that first video to go to the youtube site to watch it there before the first page jumpe to the other page, LOL!! The guy n the video mentions how that for a baptist minister to succeed, they have to be a mason! I'm not surprised!!! Back in my 'baptist' days'....I felt a slight suppression...especially visiting a baptist seminary one time..LOL...this baptist seminary in Fort Worth...I looked up info on the founders and presidents, etc. of the seminary and most of them were listed as being masons!

I'd always felt some sort of suppression in many churches (Not just baptist) of some kind that held back the Spirit from moving...I think I know why. (I believe masons are even in charismatic and pentecostal churches, too...)
