  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thanks.

No, it's way too soon for that. But as soon as I can find out (I believe around week 20), I plan to. I don't understand waiting. I've read people say that if you tell people (and know yourself) the gender and name picked, there's no surprise and it's not fun for people when the baby is born. I think those people are silly at best. I mean, how is the child itself not enough joy for all?

No, unfortunately. And, frankly, it's kind of an intimidating language to learn.

It sure does seem that way. I wouldn't mind learning some.

When your child is born, are you going to be a stay at home mom?

That's very true, but some people might think too much emphasis is put on the gender if you find out beforehand.

Is it your first baby?

Yes.

I don't know. Right now, it makes the most sense financially, since daycare is expensive. I'd like to go back to work (even if it's unpaid) at some point, though.

You should live in Sweden then. The cost of day care depends on your income, but the most you would ever pay is around $150 a month, but usually less then that. And day cares are open from either 6 or 6:30AM and close at either 6 or 6:30PM.

What's the first CD you bought?

Daycare is incredibly expensive, especially for infants. The other plus of being a SAHM is getting to be there for all the firsts.

What do you think is the most exciting part of growing up (or will be the most exciting)?

Discovery of yourself, society, everything...learning and growing.

Sweden has always sounded nice to me. :)

I have no idea. You would think I'd know since I haven't bought that many (I used to just listen to the radio and now listen to music online with pandora or youtube), but I don't.

Congrats on the pregnancy. I also found out with both of mine. There was no way I was going to wait 40 weeks :D

What do you think your most annoying habit is?

Thanks.
I don't know. Maybe I'll ask my husband. :D

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, which one would you pick?

I don't think I could just listen to one forever. There's no song I love that much. My favorites constantly change. Though I suppose hymns are different, so maybe How Great Thou Art.

I'm not a big poetry person, but I love Shel Silverstein. (My 2nd favorite by him is "Sick")

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.
