What is your biggest lesson of life that taught you to be more wiser?

People have always said I'm a wise guy. I don't know whether I'm a particularly wise person though although, I did play a wise man in a Christmas play once.

I think one thing that has taught me to be more cautious is that I once revealed a bit too much personal information online. Even though I didn't do anything wrong, people were judgmental and accused me of things did not do nor ever intended to do. These were people who were supposedly my brothers and sisters in Christ. I am much more careful about the information I share online now.

One of my weaknesses is that I'm insecure and don't handle confrontations very well. I sometimes let people trample on me and just bottle it up inside instead of telling them what I think is right.

One of my strengths is just the opposite. If it's something I really believe in (my faith for example), I'll stand my ground and not budge an inch.

It is the nature of New Year's resolutions to be unkeepable (is that a word?) therefore, I do not make them. I do intend to lose about 10 kg (22 lbs) during the next year though. I hope I can manage to keep that.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

For most of my childhood, I wanted to be a scientist. I didn't realize at the time how many things that could mean. What I had in mind was chemistry. I liked the idea of mixing chemicals together to see what would happen.

When I was a teenager, I wanted to be something different almost every year - biologist, small appliance repair man, carpenter, lathe worker (metal) but I didn't actually become any of those. The first thing I actually finished was when I was 28 when I graduated from the State Horticultural College. About 10 years later I started studying computer administration and that's what I do now.

I love pie. I think the best pie I've ever had was a pecan pie I had at a friends house once. I don't know anyone who makes pecan pie though since they moved away and I mostly eat apple pie which I love.

Really? I would never peg you as someone who was insecure, didn't handle confrontations very well or let people trample on them...ie; someone like me. You present yourself with great articulation and intelligence. You have a quiet aire of confidence and wisdom that I respect. You have a presence that instills confidence. You're one of the few people on this site that actually intimidates me. I guess, I never thought that someone like you, would battle the same weakness' I do. Silly isn't it? Thank you for sharing that. It encouraged me.

I'm intimidating??? How'd that happen???

My relationship with my mother got much better after there were 400 km (250 miles) between us. We don't get along that well.

There are a lot of things I can't prove but still believe. For example:

God exists.
God loves me.
He sent his Son to die for my sins
He sent his Holy Spirit to help me do His will.
Jesus is coming back to establish His kingdom here on earth.

I don't spend nearly as much time with God as I should. I do pray every day though and study the Bible when I can.

Have you ever had surgery?

I had a growth on my finger once and had it removed. It didn't heal properly and a peice of skin was cut and stretched over it. I don't really count that as surgery but that's the closest I've gotten.
