  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Your industrial boring equipment is probably an ultrasonic cleaner/bath. I've seen some upwards of 18000 vibrations per minute. They probably get higher. used to clean delicate jewelery by cavitation. I use them for temperature sensitive extractions of essential oils from plants.

300 Hz doesn't seem like an awfully powerful vibrator :p

Anyone know what the fastest vibrating machine is and what it is used for?

I don't know if it's the fastest, but sonic dental cleaners are advertized at 42 kHz. Do I win something if I found the highest frequency?

(edit: Oops. It looks like Cabal beat me.)

I think the cesium atom is the granddaddy of them all.

Not even close, actually - an atomic clock signal is a microwave signal, which is teeeny frequency-wise. If we're counting atoms excited by radiation as mechanical oscillators, then probably some mental gamma-ray transition or other is teh winnar.

Caesium has a vibration in the megahertz... that's more impressive than anything sited thus far :p Quantum phenomena, like vibrating quark-antiquark mesons have vibrational frequencies high into the PHz range.

I thought AV was claiming it was THE highest, not the highest cited. Besides, he totally stole my wild card for this thing :argh:

Ah, curse my limited knowledge of spectroscopy! I'm only familiar with electronic transitions.
