Of course not. Thats why youre wrong about Buddhists not wanting to take life to eat.

Why don't you treat a chicken the same as a cabbage? Is one a life and the other one not a life? Or what?

Ask a Christian philosopher a question

Do you ever get tired of coming up with new screen names every few months, creating the same threads over and over again and abandoning them?

Here is my question:

It is generally accepted that the Bible has contradictions and/or transcriber errors.

It must be true that God either can or cannot prevent these things from occurring.

God can prevent these things from occurring.

Therefore God either wants there to be errors in the Bible, or he does not care.

Which is the case, why, and what does it mean?

God allows us to make errors in order to teach us His truth.

The honest questions we can ask ourselves are:

1. Do I desire the truth to be that a perfectly good God exists?

2. Do I desire the truth to be that a perfectly good God does not exist?

3. Do I not care either way?

Keep in mind that no matter which you choose, it has no effect on the reality of a perfectly good God existing or not existing.

Pure desires, get in the way of objectivity. If you simply desire badly enough to believe in something, your mind will figure out a way to convince yourself of the same.

I am quite certain, some Muslims strongly desire their religion to be correct and Hindu's strongly desire for their religion to be correct and they convince themselves, that it is.

Yup! And as such, our desires naturally cause us to resist truths that are in the bible. Every. Single. One. Of. Us.

Though it is not impossible to overcome (1 John 4:4).

Yep. Objectivity is hard for some.

It's self explanatory -alleged conversation between Pilate & Jesus- not much to glean there.

Why do you ask?
I would like to know whether you objectively believe everything Jesus says is true. Also to know why. I do not agree that objectivity can be achieved, because it is always challenged by temptation of self's desire, and threatened by misinformation.

Incorrect. I have desired belief in an afterlife for many years, but my desire to believe it and have it be true has thus far not made me think it is. I would rather go to the hell I do not believe in than the nonexistence I do after I die.

First you would need to establish that there are contradictions in the bible.

Then we should talk about what we know for certain:

The Gospels weren't signed by their authors.
The Gospels are anonymous.
They were written in a language Jesus didn't speak.
They were written a generation after Jesus died.
They were written from a country Jesus never visited.
They contain discrepancies and contradictions.
Matthew & Luke copied heavily from Mark.
John is so different in style and content, that this Gospel is referred to as the "maverick" Gospel.
There are no extant originals, only copies.
The Gospels are written in third person narrative, not as if by eyewitnesses.

Given what we know then, what can really be objectively asserted by this particular passage?
