Did feelings for both men and women develop at the same time, or did attraction toward one gender develop later?
It definantly started for women when I hit puberty, but I wasn't entirely sure what I was feeling. A couple years later I started getting iterested in boys (around 14 or 15)
I can do "Ask an asexual" if you want.
I'm wondering how did you emerge from childhood into sexual attractions.. did you think everyone was that way or did you know the standard?
Yeah an asexual thread would be cool
As a child I knew the standard for relationships was a man and a woman. Even when I learned about homosexual relationships, I couldn't understand why I didn't seem to fit into either catagory, and it scared me quiet a lot. For me, I felt out of sync with the rest of society.
As for the lovely Pixie: what has been your experience with how homosexuals have treated you? I've noticed that there's a somewhat popular belief among the G and L of the LGBTQ alphabet that bisexuals are just on a lay-over to being gay.
Personally, I find this belief to be hypocritical, but what do you think of it?
I've never personally experienced any ill-feeling from others in the LGBTQ community, but i have heard of it happening. Actually, I get less understanding from straight people. Yes, it is very hypocritical for other queers to be predjudice against others in the rainbow, fortunately it doesn't seem to happen here very often
Many of the bisexuals I meet just say this to get attention from people.
Do you have a similar experience?
There are many fake bisexuals who try to ascribe an 'edge' to themselves and seem 'modern' and 'avant garde,' and they seldom have to live up to the fact that they are a bisexual.
Yes! Ugh! It grates my nerves! Actually, I personally find it very disrespectful not only for real bisexuals, but for all queers. Chicks kissing other chicks at parties for attention makes a mockery of the real confusion and pressure I felt when finally coming out to myself. It also put the rest of us into ill-repute. No one can take you seriously, they think you're just doing it for attention, or they try and get you to hook up with other girls so they can take photos or whatever. Because of those people, bisexuals get labled as promiscuous, [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth] and wild. My sexuality isn't a party trick, or even a lifestyle choice, it's just me.
