• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I learned the other night at my Aspie group that everyone of us was born in a cold month. In another group 90% were born in cold months. I did a little research and found an article that said there is a 91% increase chance of being born with an ASD if you were conceived in winter. I have a hypothesis as to why this might be the case that has nothing to do causally with winter or cold weather, but right now I want to find out what the case is. So would everyone post their birth month and see what comes of it? Thanks.
BTW mine is February.
Thread restarted with a poll, by request. This version ties the season & hemisphere together for each voter.

My son is diagnosed ASD and was born in february as well

May I get personal and ask about the circumstances of conception? Is he your 1st? Was he conceived after a period of abstinence? Etc. (Anything you feel relevant and comfortable sharing.)

My first has ADD, second ADHD, third has severe dyslexia and my youngest has ASD ( non verbal) with severe learning difficulties. I was not saved at the time, they all have the same father.

How long between the 3rd and 4th child?

Saw this in the new posts. Interesting idea for a poll. I found this article and thought I would share:

Month of Conception and Risk of Autism : Epidemiology

In one of my classes in college, we learned that there are critical periods during pregnancy where, if the mother gets the flu, her baby has an increased risk of developing schizophrenia later in life. I wonder if maternal illnesses play a role in the development of ASD's, too. It would make sense because people are more likely to get sick during the winter months.
