The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i am surprised by how little some of the doctors & health professionals seem to know about A.S . Some do not seem to know or understand anything about HFA. I have found that some teachers seem to understand abit more, though, especially if they have taught children with A.S. I think that it may be covered in their teacher training.

Yes, i think that the doctors know about classic autism , and not about High functioning autism ( HFA).

When i mentioned to my doctor that i thought i have autism/ Asperger's Syndrome he said; " well you seem intelligent enough to me ! " I prayed that God willing i might be able to get a diagnosis, and went back again to see my doctor . This time he seemed more understanding and refered me for a diagnosis. I saw a specialist in autism and he did diagnose me (with Asperger's Syndrome). Praise The Lord ! Prayer changes things , and God is all powerful ! I am very thankful to God for my diagnosis.
