Name: Ariene Desamiir
Age: around 350 years
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Nationality: Tupfalasse
Occupation: Shardalonian priestess (Raiben); scholar
Appearance: Tall and stately, and every inch the haughty Elf. She has a regal bearing about her, which barely avoids crossing the line into pretentiousness. She has light hair and light eyes and wears the robes and ivory circlet of her station quite proudly.
Personality: 'Friendly' is not the first word that most would use to describe Ariene. 'Haughty' and 'domineering' are probably a bit more accurate, although nobody will deny her knowledge of her areas of study. She will lend her aid to the other Raibens when needed, but only after checking their motives first. She also has an annoying habit of picking up not-so-public information about others and leveraging them with it at inconvenient times.
Abilities: Ariene has studied a great deal over her long life and has therefore acquired great knowledge of languages, including those that are ancient and have fallen into disuse.
Background: Ariene has sat on the Council of Thirteen for as long as the other Raibens can remember, and is currently their most senior member. She knows all of the other Raibens rather well, almost too well for the comfort of some of them, and for some reason she seems to hold a particular dislike and distrust of Isliel Belshassar. Of the Raibens, Ariene stands in open opposition to Isliel, who otherwise goes nearly uncontested. The two feud with each other quite frequently, yet almost as frequently end up requiring each other's assistance. Neither woman likes this situation very much, although Ariene tends to be a little more vocal about it.
Ariene herself has been a Shardalonian for about as long as she can remember, and she has also studied numerous subject areas throughout her life. As such, she is a very accomplished scholar and has put out numerous papers under different pseudonyms. Perhaps the scholars of the church of El have been reading her words without even knowing it.
Quote: "This is pathetic. All these years and we still haven't freed our goddess? Our faith must be poor indeed if we are still floundering like this."
