I look to the cross since I am medically unable to fast. I cannot fast from food as I am hypoglycemic.
You can fast in other ways than not eating, if you can't do that. Fasting from internet and use the time to pray for instance.
Yes, terrific idea!!Yes. Good idea
Or instead of having friends over for tea invite some oddballs:
13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous. (Luke 14)
This is true, there are times when there was a definite drawing of God that I should fast, if it had been of my own willpower it wouldnt have happened. I still do not know the outcome of that but I was definitely drawn to do it and because God had done that it was right to fast. I almost think fasting without God drawing you to it is pointless but maybe not if you do it because you know you need Him, difficult to say.
We definitely need Jesus accomplishing what He did for us on the Cross, theres no comparison between fasting and the Cross.
where do you get off saying stuff like that! wow! that's some arrogant stuff you just said there as if you have it all together.
perhaps you should seriously consider where you may be lacking if you think its ok to come and out and say stuff like that to people. especially to someone like Boidae who has a lot to deal with and is obviously someone who wants to honor God and as such is doing his best for his wife and child.
True If you base fasting on will power you will fail. If you base it on faith you will succeed. Actually I see it as a test of our resolve of the Cross not as an alternative to it.
Active faith still requires participation of the believer. Nobody says fasting is "a piece of cake" (BUT ISN'T THE NATURE OF FASTING PUT ON THE PERSON, AND THEIR RESOLVE? IF IT IS TOTAL GRACE, AND NOT YOU, THEN HOW IS IT A FAST?
don't mind the caps, didn't know they were on.
These matters require all being in one accord.Maybe you should seriously consider it yourself. We're one Body. Have you already fasted and prayed for them?
In a sense all sickness is the same. Demons may encourage/aggravate an illness, but they cannot create one, IMO. Illness is the abnormal function of the human machine. A sickness is, by definition, a deviation from the normal functioning of an organism. Normal is healthy; abnormal is illness. Of course, normal is a subjective thingmy normal may not be your normal; and vice versa. So, in this context, what is normal? Am I normal at 18? 25? 30? 40? Is normal 20/20 vision? A full head of hair? The absence of bacteria in my body? Good teeth? Excellent stamina? Athletic ability? No warts or acne or halitosis? What? If I am lacking in any of these areas am I still normal or am I sick? IMO, we are all sick (i.e., subnormal) at some level and so, yes, by this definition, I would classify aging as an illness.
, by this definition, I would classify aging as an illness.
Thank you for clarifying
Please note that this classification is from human observation and is not found taught any place in scripture. IMHO it is therefore a non scriptural view. How on can embrace this over the multitude of scriptures showing Jesus healed everyone who came to Him is beyond my comprehension.
But then again mans doctrine has to take the plain and complicate it to function.
When will we stop being pragmatic? If it works for me, it is scrptual and if it doesn't it must not be Gods will.
Sad state of the body indeed.
Please note the assumption that aging is NOT part of the dying process is also an assumption based somewhere other than scripture. Therefore, in your own words, also a "non scriptural view". If you desire pragmatism to have no place in the discussion, then it seems that one would have to hold neither view.
Dying process?
Heh, yeah. Sort of like Moses being killed prematurely
Illness is the abnormal function of the human machine
