Are you downsizing

I lost mine 15 months ago. So I've simplifed my life a lot with less month. Luckly I have a temp job that has lasted 10 weeks so far. While I miss nice vacation trips, I am enjoying life being simpler.

What has your experience been?

I am incredibly blessed with wonderful benefits while I'm out on sick leave and shouldn't have any problems going back to my job when I'm healed. But, since I'm not getting any overtime right now, I am thinking twice about expenditures.

I tend to be fairly frugal, anyway. But, I have been more mindful since the economy has started to struggle so much and so many I know have been laid off. I only have a few luxuries - like satellite and internet - that I could do away with to tighten up my budget if necessary, but for now I can afford them so they're staying in the budget.

I lost my job in January. Not much has changed for me. I have always lived pretty cheaply, so between the unemployment benefits and my savings, I'm doing fine. I was a restaurant manager, though, so my food expenses have gone up a bit.

I'm looking for work and facing the prospect of relocation. I sure wish I didn't have to move with all of this stuff. Hopefully the thrift shop will take most of it.

That's looking pretty likely for me right now, too. My ex just sent me a letter saying that she is moving to Des Moines with my daughter. I have an interview for a local company later this week, but if that falls through, I may wring what concessions I can out of my ex and move to Des Moines anyway.

I've resisted moving, as there are a lot of jobs around the Boston area. But there may not be one that is high paying for me, so I may move if I can get one in my field somewhere else.
