Hear, Here
and what happened to my response on this very topic, recently? I posted re suggesting to cained-folks there: 'As you're blowin'-out all your 100-Birthday-candles, you will be graduating as a certified Spring-(chick/rooster - whichever the case, lol).
That was in response to them asking me: 'HOW, pray tell, are you ably springing lightly in your step, as tho yet you are a child ?'.
Really: 'As a person thinketh, so *is* he/she', right ?;)

Seriously, I could care less about sorry 'age'-games. I might state my Birthdate, but let those 'possessed' with such trivia, figger out the #.

I prefer my life *Generatively over:Dflowing*. How about you ?

Where DO people come up with the notion that 45+ is old???? Life began at 40 for me and I'm enjoying every new page of this chapter of my life (will be 50 in 5 mos.)

I really get aggravated at the attitudes about age and all the hype about "staying young". Age is not just the number of years you've been on this earth but is also a state of mind. If you think you're old...guess what....you are!

And if you concentrate on how old you are then you'll end up concentrating on what you can no longer do because of your age. Look at the great men and women of the Bible and see what wonderful things they did at well advanced ages!! Certainly we should all be looking forward to what we can accomplishe because of not in spite of our own age.

Yes, I'm brave enough to admit I'm 50 and on my first day as a member as well.

I couldn't agree more that we should all remember the alternative. Of course we all want to see another birthday. Every day, every breath and every heartbeat is a gift from God.

My mom had me when she was 40. There was always that 40 year difference in our ages. I had so looked forward to celebrating her 90th birthday 3 months after I would turn 50.

But, it was not to be. My precious mother died in February. And now, my age will just continue to get closer to that age. Her age has stopped increasing.

So friends, rejoice in whatever your age. Enjoy God's gift of your life. :amen:

I'm 37 I'll be turning 38 in December. I feel like I'm in my late 40's due to my life at the moment. Is my age ok to be posting under midlife?

I am, sorta'!
:D 42's not bad in light of 50, I suppose.
I don't feel that old.
So, is it really ... old?

I know I've already responded in this thread but I'd like to add a partial lyric which states how I feel about the whole getting older gig.

SAME TIME

Another year has already passed
You wonder if this year could be your last
You find your life is going by fast
Why won't time slow down?

(Chorus)
But the same time that makes you older
Is the same time that brings you closer
To the One in whom you hope for
Jesus Christ our Lord
Yes the same time that makes you older
Is the same time that brings you closer
To the One in whom you hope for
When He returns for you

You feel your life is slipping away
Your body informs you - new aches today
Lord, please come quickly is what we pray
Why won't time slow down?

(Chorus)
But the same time that makes you older
Is the same time that brings you closer
To the One in whom you hope for
Jesus Christ our Lord
Yes the same time that makes you older
Is the same time that brings you closer
To the One in whom you hope for
When He returns for you

I hope to complete this song someday. I think it needs one more verse (though it might be able to go as is with just an instrumental bridge - I'm not sure yet). But I do like the shift in perspective! (I try to send it out as is to those whose birthdays (especially the big ones) are coming up.

Chris

I worked in a nursing home, I am 75% disabled because of the lifting that type of work requires. The pain gets so bad, somedays, I feel way older than my years.
FWIW in my years working in nursing homes most of the vibrant 90 year olds were the visitors. I don't say this to diminish your thought, I say it as another perspective, as one who's been there.
