Are you better off? (with a twist)

Another thread asked if we're better off than we were 8 years ago. Think for a minute about another question. Are you better off than you were 2 years ago?

Two years ago the economy was chugging along nicely.
Two years ago the democrat party took over both houses of congress.
What's happened since?

Technically yes, I am, but that is because I am a first time home buyer. A bad economy is good for me up until I purchase and lock in my interest rate.

8 years ago I would have been much better off, I know my parents were.

Did President Bush lose the power of veto two years ago and not tell us?

The economic problems we face are complex and go back through several administrations. I tend to think they are caused by deregulation and maybe our oil dependence, and the responsibility for those fall on many, including Reagan, Clinton, and Bush.

Economy good.......democrats take over both houses......economy bad. If things were great, you know Pelosi and Reid would betaking credit. Can't have it both ways.

Uh, the economy wasn't good before. The dow was up, but wages and employment weren't.

The housing bubble would have burst no matter who was in charge, the damage was done.

I'm not better than I was 2 days ago. I've got to go to work tomorrow. However, I will likely be better off 3 days from now when I can cash my pay check.

The "are you personally better off now" is a pretty bogus argument. It always has been. Most people get at least some increase in pay with 4-8 years of experience and training. Thus, even with especially bad presidents, any given individual is likely to have a better job in 4-8 years.

we may have thought it was better but while we were in our delusion, we were getting screwed over by all these fat cats. now its just caught up to us.

I am better off than two years ago because the dems passed a bill to lower college loan interest rates so they're actually =/lower than morgage and car notes. It's about time.
