back to the OP.

I've never been visited by an angel.

I've never been called upon by God to take part in such a miracle as the virgin birth.

I've never seen Christ face to face.

Even in my Christian life, I've known Jesus less time than Mary ever did.

God clearly blessed Mary more than I.

I have no problem with that.
I shouldn't have even started the thread
in light of:
2 Corinthians 10:12
12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

Wait, it wasn't my idea was it??
*Looks around for uphillbattle.
JK.

But when I think of how God has blessed
me I cry.
I cannot even imagine being MORE blessed!
WOW.
Praise God!

The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Nope. Conceived without the stain of original sin...preserved from sin and chosen by God to be His mother... and was assumed into heaven.

That's were 'Mariology' is extremely deceived. Jesus Himself stated there is none righteous but God. None. I have yet to find this idea of a 'sinless' Mary, immaculately conceived, supported by Scripture.

Roman Emperors tried, Popes tried, what makes you think Muslims could do it? The Church always GREW on the blood of martyrs.
Plus, your Protestant history looks pretty selective...
even inventive. The Geneva Bible is not in Latin.
Even Erasmus considered the Latin Vulgate corrupt.

Your misrepresentation of things astounds me sometimes. The Geneva did not come out until 1560, long after the 1st starts of the "Reformation". Perhaps you have an actual reputable source for your claim reagarding Erasmus?

You asked:
"Why for the 1200 or so years before, did God's truth never reveal itself in the same huge way as it did with these men? "

>>Obviously because the 800 lb guerilla was sitting on our necks, forbidding transltion & personal study."these men" were not afraid of the guerilla.

But for that 1200 years, well really until now but I'll use the 1200 for the sake of things, the Catholic Church was what the Holy Spirit was using to keep Scripture and the Body of Christ alive. That "800lb gorilla" as you refer to it, was God. Funny how it wasn't until the times that Humanism was becoming so prevelant in the world that reform happened. And hey how about that, every single one of the "reformers" had a humanist background. And then that brings us about to the present day, where the teachings of the Reformers have been watered down, twisted and abused to the point where you have moveements that abound teaching that faith brings about material "abundance". And now we live in a "nice wonderful" humanist "if it feelds good do it" world. Complete with legal murder of children and all.

Right.
This one's about Mary.

I think everyone agrees that
Mary was blessed among women.

Reverence for anything or anyone can become warped out of shape.
And like TC said, Mary's sinlessness
isn't found in the Bible.
But more than that, the fact that all
have sinned is found in the Bible.

Truth is liberating.
We should strive to find it.

Proverbs 3:3-4
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee
bind them about thy neck;
write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

Which is exactly why I converted to the Catholic Church! :)

Truth CAN be found in the scriptures, but is not confined to it. It is the Church who is the pillar and foundation of truth!

Peace be with you.

first you tell usthe reformers were priests w/Latin bibles, now you tell us they all had humanist backgrounds.
And you have the nerve to ask ME for sources.^_^

Erasmus

In considering the experiences of Linacre and Colet, the great scholar Erasmus was so moved to correct the corrupt Latin Vulgate, that in 1516, with the help of printer John Froben, he published a Greek-Latin Parallel New Testament. The Latin part was not the corrupt Vulgate, but his own fresh rendering of the text from the more accurate and reliable Greek, which he had managed to collate from a half-dozen partial old Greek New Testament manuscripts he had acquired. This milestone was the first non-Latin Vulgate text of the scripture to be produced in a millennium… and the first ever to come off a printing press. The 1516 Greek-Latin New Testament of Erasmus further focused attention on just how corrupt and inaccurate the Latin Vulgate had become, and how important it was to go back and use the original Greek (New Testament) and original Hebrew (Old Testament) languages to maintain accuracy… and to translate them faithfully into the languages of the common people, whether that be English, German, or any other tongue. No sympathy for this “illegal activity” was to be found from Rome… even as the words of Pope Leo X's declaration that "the fable of Christ was quite profitable to him" continued through the years to infuriate the people of God

Amen.

But if the Bible says all have sinned, we
use the Bible as the final authority.

Right?

here comes the "all doesn't mean all" arguement.

From the EO point of view..."all" does mean "all"... We call her blameless not sinless.

Forgive me...

LOL.

Okay, but I was thinking about this, and I
think it's very very important.

Because if Mary was sinless, then doesn't that undermine Christ?

Or not.

Forgive me...
Does the church really call her sinless?
Do you know?
Or is it just the personal opinion of some
of those on the forum?

Hail Mary full of grace has been watered down to "Greetings, you who are highly favored!"

Peace
and "Stephen, full of Grace and Power" has been watered down to "Stephen, full of Faith and Power."

what's your point? I've yet to see anyone explain how Stephen is full of Grace, yet not sinless, but Mary is.

Luke 1:28 28
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. {highly...: or, graciously accepted, or, of much grace}

Why do you believe it should read full of?
