Yes, to all those. What a privelege to serve Jesus the way he says to serve. There aren't many Christians like that. I truly believe that most people who call themselves Christians are really not..,they are deceived. Just because they said a prayer, they think they are saved..no repentance,no changed life, no service. Like the book of James says..'shew me thy faith without works, and I'll show thee my faith by my works" (James 2:18). Please, don't mis-understand, salvation is by grace without the works of the law, but it is made evident to men by the works that follow. God sees the heart, but men can't. Thank you for having a burden for souls..that's the real work of God.

I play bass and guitar for the worship team, and have done so for nearly 19 years, and I'm also involved with other ministries of the church. As for keeping some sort of personal scorecard of how involved one is with their church, it seems like a path towards church burnout if it leads one to keep comparing themselves with other church members, feeling guilty about not measuring up to impossible standards, etc. It can also be a path for some folks to get a smug sense of self righteousness too. Believe me, I've run into some of the---ahem--saints, who are quick to let others know just how hard they work for their church. We christians can become legalistic cranky pharisees far too often, and it does not serve Christ in the least.:sigh: Fortunately at my church we encourage folks to get involved with the ministries that fit their talents and calling. We also respect the rights of folks to say also say ' no' to the flurry of projects and programs that are part of church life that can become overwhelming if one tries to take on too many things at once. It's about keeping a sense of proper balance and forming a community of believers to support each other as the body of Christ, and helping each other to use their gifts in their calling of ministry as God has called them.

Trust me, you wouldn't want me singing in the Quire :D
My gifts tend to keep me off stage & away from the lights.

My wife was an AWANA leader and loved it.
I asked the pastor to help me find a ministry in the church, we went thru the same rig-a-maroll..."what do you want to do?", "what do you feel God is calling you to do?", etc.
...nothing yet.

We are leaving that church now...long story.

Thanks for listening.

I mow the grass at Church. The graveyard gives me the creeps.

I like little church cemetaries....one can really get a rich history of the congregations of the past at one's church with a little research. ;)

May God bless you for doing it. Mowing is important and it's hard work that is behind the scenes. Folks however do sure notice when it's not done. As for your church being next to, or having a cemetery I too would find it fascinating as I have an interest in history. I know I've learned a lot about the history of my home town by tramping through the local cemeteries with a camera and notebook in hand.

The one who truly serves Christ is usually the one who gives of themselves and few if any know that they are doing it. Religion teaches you to " be active doing things". Faith humbly serves.

Right on, that is my thought.....

At my church in my hometown, myself and my best friend at the time were the only two youth members in the Adult Choir. It gave the older generation a spruce of spirit and good times. We always brought the fun :D. I was also active in our Student Leader's Council and the youth choir. Right now I'm not as near active because of work and college. I hope to get back into it one day.
