Are we the product of poor design?

Evolutionists are fond of pointing out the weaknesses of our 'design' as compared to other species. The irony is that humans have never taken full advantage of the capabilities that we have, regardless of our supposedly poor design. Also ironic is that our 'evolutionary' design hasn't fared any better. In fact one can't tell the difference.

I wasn't aware that we had a poor design. They must be talking about my hair falling out. Other than that I can't think of any weakness in our design. It's worked well for me over the years.

If one doesn't operate the system according to the instructions good design doesn't much matter.

Of course we must consider the craftiness of those that produce our stuff. Take vehicles for example. The manufacturers warrantee the engine and drive train for many miles, knowing that they will never have to pony up for repairs. However they put the fear of high mileage into our heads so we buy more often. Also many other (un-warranted) systems will fail long before the engine and drive train, prodding us to buy anew.

Evolution doesn’t produce anything perfect - that sounds something God would do. Seen lots of perfect animals around lately ?

All evolution needs to happen is for species to be good enough to survive and procreate in current conditions. That’s it.

That seems a bit circular though. If the standard for "perfect" is simply the thing it's designed for, that doesn't tell us what a perfect design means.
