It's both, actually. If an individual's rights aren't protected, you have a dictatorship/totalitarian govt.

Tell that to the victims of 'eminent domain'. :D

A big toothy smile at the end of such a statement is not appropriate if the statement is to put the light on "victims".

They're not victims when they're paid for their land.

Your statement implies the life that they choose or prefer, not necessarily the one they find themselves living. Millions, perhaps billions, of people aren't free to live the life they would have liked to live.
There are not billions of people living in America. There are a little over 300 million.
America has a Republican form of government. That means the individual citizen has a say.
Further, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, as well as the Charters of Freedom, and recalling the Declaration of Independence, all go to insure in their own textual language the rights of the individual American and the collective.

Being this is about political candidates in America and those currently on the campaign trail, I think this is a worth while read.
Especially given an avowed Socialist often invokes other countries, including Sweden, Socialist policies and politic, regardless of whether those countries are presently Socialist or are in process of abandoning those failed programs.

I'm not American. But I'm sure there are better representatives for ordinary American women than a bank-backed Clinton. Some may think of Palin, but there are quite a few non-politicans who have made an impression on me as well. Just imagine Ann Coulter or Pamela Geller in the white house.

Very true. Sweden hasn't really been close to "socialist" since the early 90's, and now with this massive influx of asylum seekers, no one can seriously believe that the groundwork for the kind of welfare state that existed in the Cold War era, with its cultural and ethnic homogeneity and cohesion, really exists any longer. You can't have open borders and a generous welfare system at the same time.

That sir is funny. I hope it was meant in jest and you do not earnestly believe that.

Years ago when a developer decided to invoke ED on then Justice Scalia's property after SCOTUS expanded the perimeters of ED law,Scalia fought based on the definition of public use. And won. Yes, he was a SCOTUS justice and that helped his defense of his property. However he could not have done that had it not been within the law.

Is Clinton, Sanders, Trump, Cruz and Kasich the very best our country has to run for president? I see huge flaws in each of these people, and I don't want any of then in the White House.

Why are we being forced to elect one of these people whom most of us really don't want? Just who is pushing these people to run for president? Are the people of the US being controlled by a group that sets an agenda, and the person they feel they can control the most?

Who would you like to see run for president and win?

Sir,

Your question is wonderful, but not so timely. Why wasn't anyone, on either side of the spectrum, asking this question two years ago? Whichever we are saddled with, we are eating spaghetti with a single chopstick.

So, Sir, which is it? Did he prevail because he was a Justice, or because the law was followed? If, in fact, you reason that the outcome was either because he was a member of the court, or that the opinion was outside the precedent of law, you should state your position more clearly. You post doesn't provide me with your opinion of which of these two premises cited by you prevail.

Thank you

There are not billions of people living in America. There are a little over 300 million.

I was expanding my statement to include the whole world.

America has a Republican form of government. That means the individual citizen has a say.

The individual has the right to vote for those who will misrepresent him or her.
