  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

are there any more virgins left?

Virgins are hard to come by for 2 reasons :
a: the average girl looses her virginity by 15.6 yrs old boys 15.8
b. as one who was a virgin until i was just Recently married, I can tell you that only in Christian evenagelical cricles was that in any way known of me. If i'd have told that to my Catholic aquiantances or Lutheran ones they'd lookat me like i was insane (some did, very sad )! As such I didn't publicize my business (or lack of it ) to the world.

I suppose a more important question, is-Are there people out there who are ready to RECOMMIT themselves to the lord, become virgins in his eyes again, and become pure, who you'd accept as a potential mate even if they were not scientifically a virgin? That was the case with my wife, who went through a rebellious stage that lasted into her 20's. I have no regrets, and even if I wasn't her technical 'first', becasue of the blood of the lamb, I have become her 'spiritual first'.
is that helpful?

I'm hesitent in writing this as I realise that traditionally the church values virginity until the marriage bed. But, there is a problem with marrying a virgin and that is that the sex life in a marriage can turn out to be an absolute disaster. This IS important as sex is a very important part of marriage. I realise that there are pros and cons both ways.

Why!?!?! Catholics and Lutheran hold to waiting until marriage, just as any. You should look at your unchaste Lutheran and Catholic friends as being even more insane!

I would say this, yes, the majority probably are not virgins. However, if at your age, you don't know any virgins, that probably is a reflection that you are looking in the wrong places and for the wrong type of person.

I would suggest some self-examination is in order for what is attracting you to women and how you are or aren't finding what you really want. Obviously you are doing something wrong.

You aren't trying to find the majority of women, really you are looking for one. So maybe a change away from quantity to quality is in order.

I would also say it is a two way street. Evidently, you are at least somewhat unattractive to the type of woman you are seeking. What would it be about the way you appear that chaste women would not find attractive? Maybe you can honestly say nothing, but I would hope you would know a young woman or two that you could ask, maybe a sister, or some friend.

This may be true for youself..I know of many young ladies that have their heart set on the Lord. Not being stained by the worlds sins.. Going off to missions. Not even looking at boys or men. This is not their goal at all. I cannot say all young ladies are this way..But I can say there are those whom are virgins seeking to Glorify God in their lives. Same with the young men.. Seeking to become Pastors or lay leaders.. Seeking only the kingdom of God to flourish.. I am praying for your back.. Praying that the Lord will touch and heal you. Make sure it is not a bladder infection for this will attack your lower back...

My 31 year old, absolutely Gorgeous, social fiancee has maintained her purity for marriage.

Be careful, your statement, although not intending to, I'm sure, insults our sisters in Christ who maintain purity for that reason alone, not because they are ugly! (and in fact, are more beautiful for it.)

Well, that was not seriously meant.. Sisters, take that as a joke to emphasise how rare those girls really are I believe in some circles/churches persons who are determined to stay virgins are not rare - in fact they are in majority. But the whole picture is not that brigt...

Oh and about "ugly girls" - there is no such thing

SIGH....and is this where I ask if there are any men out there or little boys with answers as yours?

To answer the OP question, I would say yes there are virgins out there. I for one have maintained and am maintaining my virginity until I get married. However, the precentage is very high of those who have not waited.

Virgins aren't worth much?

Perhaps for children and those not mature enough to understand that your teen years are not your adult years.

However virginity is actually respected and looked upon with awe by many people. Perhaps it is only with age and maturity is it realized how important to maintain that purity.

a woman who holds on to her purity for her husband is to be admired. A man who holds on to his purity for his wife is to be admired.

Even more so if they pass through their late teenage years and 20's while mainting God's will for them and their future spouses.

My fiancee has done so, and I feel most blessed by this.

I only regret that I cannot give the same gift. She is worth that gift, and more.

Have you asked for forgiveeness from the Lord on the issue? I bet you have, so you are clean, you are a virgin again. The new creature in Christ comes to mind.

yes, however, the innocence (knowledge) is not done away with. I know I've had sex, so does she know that I have. It isn't precisely the same, unfortunately.

I don't fee guilt, just regret that I cannot offer the same gift.

Yes, we all have regrets, I'm sorry to say. I was a virgin when I got married, and my husband was not. The devil used that in the first year of our marriage, but it was no big deal when I gave it to the Lord. Please notice how I said, when I gave it to the Lord.

My husband was not a Christian when he did those things, but the devil really tried to do a job on me. It was I that had the problem not the Lord, He had already taken care of it.

Alot of us go into marriages thinking we need to fix our spouses. Oh how the Lord must laugh when we tell Him our plans.

We need to worry about ourselves, and not fixing them, and then the marriage/love that the Lord has for us is so rewarding, so great in Him.

God Bless You for sharing your regrets!! It helps us remember how we all have them, and if not for Him......let me say it again, if not for Him, oh the condition we would be in.

what a sad and horrible way to look at it-
and what a good way to excuse sin!!!
if you "Do it" before marriage, you may learn a bit.
but you will be doing so IN SIN.
Not to mention that EVERYONE is different.
what you learn may not even apply to you spouse!
How horrible to learn together after you are married

I happen to know a young, attractive girl in high school who is still a virgin. And she's fairly popular. You're making an unfair characterization.

Oh, and I'm a virgin too.
