• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

why are some of you seeming to be on the defensive?
she isnt attacking any of you, shes just asking a question.
i dont think she looks down on men becuase of their struggle, she just wants to learn more about it.

i dont think all men struggle with lust and porn like others do, theres no reason to say that all men must be this way.

though i do agree that sexual temptation is a grave danger to men, maybe more than women but that im not so sure of.
paul said in 1st corinthians that it was a good thing for a man to not touch a woman, but for every man for have a wife lest they be tempted. and he said he understood that not everyman had the gift of "continency" that he had. paul had a self control that not everyman had. diffrent people have diffrent struggles.
but also, paul was a man of God and if he had not been this would have been diffrent.
when the overwhelming magority of men are bound in sin as paul was not, then the magority of men will certainly be struggling with lust. only when men become men of God and overcome sin, will we see the diffrences in people who are tempted with lust and those who are not.
i am not tempted by pornography. but if i was to run from God and go back to a life under the power of sin, then i would be led my fleshly appetite to all kinds of sin.
and when i am walking rightly with God, i am not in subjection to lust becuase i am full of his spirit that changes me into the image of the glory of God.
i am tempted with lust, but i am by no means unable to overcome it. becuase as paul said in 2nd cor "we always triumph in christ!"

when men become men of God and are changed by the holyspirit into the image of the glory of God, from glory to glory. then you certianly can find men who are not defeated by lust or pornography. it is not the will of God that men be like mongrels who are led around by their animal appetites.
there is a Spirit change that can and must take place, where we are changed into the image of the glory of God.

How can any person not be aroused and interested by viewing porn images..We are sexual beings ..It feels good to think and do...If you are married and looking at other women or men it is a form of cheating...people who are out of control viewing and handling this material on a day to day basis need to realize this and deal with it..
