In the new covenant, the earthly tent is temporary, in the previous covenant the earthly tent was essential in preserving the bloodline that would lead to the birth of Jesus. The body doesn't matter, what's inside needs to be cleaned.

Two things:

  • The ceremonial laws of the old testament (specifically the food laws/Sabbath) were given to Jews only. They have never applied to gentiles.
  • The Old Testament passage you provided is talking specifically about pagan occult practices associated with tattoos and markings.
