Where in the Bible does it say 'Thou shalt not get a tattoo', for crying out loud? God could be covered it tats for all we know!

It says not to do it in the

- OLD COVENANT -

(you know, the same place we are commanded to marry our brothers wife if he dies, and to -NOT- eat pork)

We are under the -NEW COVENANT- and -NOT- The Law (Galatians 3:10)

------------------------

The Bible tells us that man looks at the

'OUTWARD APPEARANCE',

and...

since many people -FEAR- others who have tattoos,

it could (in my opinion) be justified as a -possible- means of self-defense (if no one will 'mess' with you because of them) .

Peace in Christ.

Mat 5:18 for, verily I say to you, till that the heaven and the earth may pass away, one iota or one tittle may not pass away from the law, till that all may come to pass.

The earth is still here and the LAW is still here as well. We are not saved BY the law - but FROM the law but the LAW still stands. It is NOT done away with.

You are correct. However, read Romans, Galatians and Colossians real carefully. What you said is correct, but there is more to it than that. Only those outside the Law of Life in Christ Jesus are still subject to the Law. You can't be in the Law and be in Christ both!!!

So you are implying that if you are in Christ - nothing you do is a sin? Murder? Adultry? Idol Worship? After all - without the LAW - there is no sin.

Christ is the WORD incarnate. The WORD contains the Law. Christ CONTAINS the Law.

The Law says, "Thou shalt not commit adultery...."

Christ says, "I tell you the truth, even if you lust in your heart you have committed adultery...."

There is no hope for those under the Law. NONE! The Apostle Paul makes that very clear. The hope in Christ Jesus is that were are free from sin and death. Do I sin? LOL! Every man is a sinner. Does the Law condemn me? The Law brings a curse, the scripture say Christ set us free from the curse of the Law. It also says He, Christ has given us a new heart according to Hebrews and the He know write His commandments upon a heart of flesh and not a tablet of stone.

Christ came to FULFILL the Law. But also realize that because of grace, we are no longer under the law. There were different kinds of law outlined in the OT. I'm sure you know that, but it seems that you believe that even though Christ came and died, we are still bound to the laws God set forth for the Israelites. I'd like to see you give Biblical references that tell us we are still to remain under the Levitical law God set forth for His people (the children of Israel).

How did he fulfill the law? He became the blood sacrifice required by the law for the forgiveness of sin. We no longer need to offer any sacrifice for our sins but the one that Christ offered. Because of his sacrifice we are now "under grace." We are given the grace of his sacrifice. Does this make me free to sin? NOPE. Does this make what God once called WRONG suddenly right? NOPE. I means that we are afforded mercy and forgiveness when we repent of doing wrong.

Because He SAID He did.

Matthew 5:17-Do not think I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come abolish them but to fulfill them.

I guess it boils down to whether or not we believe people gettin tattoos are doing wrong, then.

You are right, He became our atonement, when He died on the cros. This does not give us the grace (read:freedom) to sin, but I guess it would then come down to whether or not you think tattooing, specifically, is sinful. Personally, I know many Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, born again Christians who have tattoos, and who get tattoos. I don't think it is your job (or mine) to judge whether or not they are in a state of sin because of it. If it is wrong for you because you feel the Spirit's conviction about it, then don't get them. But don't judge another because of YOUR interpretation of Scripture, as their being wrong, in sin, or in error because it doesn't line up with YOUR theology.

You haven't answered my question.

Here it is again:

Are you implying that I should marry my brother's wife if he dies?

(After all, it's -COMMANDED- under the Old-Covenant Law)

Well?

Peace in Christ,
