I think they're cool. They sometimes depict the wisdom of man as a type.
I remember going through this big thing and controversy about my wanting to stay in the Word all of the time. I would skip prayer and worship though and was as a "cake unturned". This one brother would express his disapproval, yet I knew he didn't approve of my doctrine either and thought that I was just obsessed about God with little fruit. He used to watch a lot of TV, and I wasn't going to accept that kind of life (Having said that, I still have TV periods!).
I was going out and had a big stack of books on the bed that I was studying and just by a 1 out of 100 chance, I had a couple of owl bookends stacking them together. I looked at it and got the message.
Then the Lord gave me a dream where I went to a "will call" window in a warehouse and gave them a ticket. The angel there took my ticket for my legitimate blessing and left to go get it. I (feeling guilty about it because of the criticism that was basically just), grabbed a box left on the counter (that wasn't for me) and ran of with it like I stole it!
Then the helicopters were after me and I ran through a barren wooded area with dead grass and trees with no leaves. I ran under a bridge to hide where I saw another me and we started to fight. We ended up in the river under the bridge and the "other me" had me with my head just above water. I was swollen and red faced and just about to drown.
Then a ship came in on my left and Jesus was at the front as the captain to liberate me (from my intellectualism).
It is possible to read something spiritual into everything and just be freaky. At the same time, some animals and other things are types and shadows that indicate a spiritual condition or reality.
It's up to you to judge the relevance in your own life.
BTW - I think being able to ask certain questions among your family is not strange at all. It helps to make life interesting and we might learn something that we didn't consider. I could think of a stranger question that begs the asking.
