AQQ is Answer the Question with a Question (6) and I feel obliged to explain the folklore of ice speed skating, the fame of Levi Leipheimer and the oddly enough American branded Cruesli breakfast cereal which is somehow typically only popular in the Netherlands, much like Leipheimer.

First, we got the Elfstedentocht (11 cities race). This is the most famous Dutch sport tradition of our history. It's a 200 kilometer race of ice speed skating in Friesland. It doesn't happen often because it doesn't freeze hard enough any more. The last one was in 1998 I believe.

Ice speed skating is very popular as a tv sport in the Netherlands though, and the stadiums are always filled too. It's on tv every week that there is an international race, or an important national race (like American trials in track & field).

Levi Leipheimer is a cyclist who was famous in the Netherlands, he rode for Rabobank and was third in the Tour de France once. (I just checked his wiki, seems he was disqualified a few years later).

Cruesli is muesli which is roasted with honey often and raisins (sometimes dried fruit).
It's eaten with milk or yoghurt.

In all fairness, your place is confusing. It's The Netherlands, it's also Holland, and the people are called Dutch. Plus, your colors are red, white and blue, but your sports fans wear orange.

Americans are from the United States. Makes equally less sense. I'm not from Holland technically. Holland is two provinces, like Carolina and Dakota, North and South. It's dominant though, Amsterdam is in North-Holland and Rotterdam in South-Holland, both of the big ports, so it's them who colonized and stuff, maybe that's why the name went such a long way, as though it is pars-pro-toto, Holland standing for all of the Netherlands, or at least, in the past.

Orange is the color of the royal family.

In the past our flag was oranje-blanje-bleu (orange-white-blue).

I knew that because I read Hans Brinker or The Silver Skates many years ago. :D

Good point.

Yes, I know of William of Orange. I partied with a bunch of Dutch people when Holland played Brazil in the World Cup in Dallas, Texas. They were great fun, all dressed in orange and wearing big wooden shoes. :D
