Okay, I found this site had Walsingham among some others:
http://www.theworkofgod.org/Aparitns/Aparitns.htm

And I know that the late Pope John Paul II visited it, but is it considered an approved Apparition (like that of Our Lady of the Pillar)?

I am pretty sure Walsingham is approved.

A dear friend of mine from India gave me a cross blessed at Our Lady of Good Health in Vailankanni

Many do not know about this approved apparition. It is called the Lourdes of the East.

Here is a site that you can get information on all apparitions. They list the history, Approved apparitions, unapproved ones and their status, messages, discernment, Church statements, and recent claims. I found it very helpful.
http://www.miraclehunter.com/marian_apparitions/index.html

There are errors on this site, for instance, I believe they listi Naju as approved, and it was outright comdemned. Use such sites with caution.

Also, in the lists above, Naju is not simply unapproved as though waiting for a decision, it is outright condemned. We had a discussion about Naju a while back and David brought it to our attention it was condemned and provided the decree. I will see if I can find the thread.

Also, while the apparition of La Salette is approved, the messages we have today are corrupted and condemned and forbidden to be published. We had a thread on that too a while back.

Additionally, Our Lady of the Snows is not from the 1800's, but from the 4th century, when Our Lady appeared in a dream and vision instructing the building of a basilica on a hill in Rome - the sign would be overnight snow that night on the exact spot it was to be built. That night was the hottest summer night of the year. The next morning, there was now on the hill Mary had picked, covering just the area the Basilica was to be built on.

Hence, Our Lady of the Snows.

Perhaps its not updated regularly enough.

I copied this:

Non-Approved Apparition Claims

• Naju (1985)

I haven't verified all the info on that site but what I have verified I have found no errors thus far.

I have always found that site to be very accurate and objective.

Yup, just went and checked the Unapproved Apparitions list there and it confirms Naju is condemned so that is not a mistake because they do list it as condemned:

1985 Naju (North Korea) - Julia Kim - Negative decision

Are you sure your not jumping to condemn things to quickly?

This thread is about Approved apparitions, not condemned ones.

I would love to see information about La Salette's "messages" being corrupted. I have never heard that before. I knew Naju was condemned though.

There was only one apparition at La Salette, France (1846) and this is the only message that I know of:

"Come to me, my children. Do not be afraid. I am here to tell you something of the greatest importance. If my people will not obey, I shall be compelled to loose my Son's arm. It is so heavy, so pressing that I can no longer restrain it."

"How long I have suffered for you! If my Son is not to cast you off, I am obliged to entreat Him without ceasing. But you take no least notice of that. No matter how well you pray in future, no matter how well you act, you will never be able to make up to me what I have endured for your sake."

" 'I have appointed for you six days for working. The seventh I have reserved for myself. And no one will give it to me.' This is what causes the weight of my Son's arm to be so crushing."

"The cart drivers cannot swear without bringing in my Son's name. These are two things that make my Son's arm so burdensome. If the harvest is spoiled it is your fault. I warned you last year (1845) by means of the potatoes. You paid no heed. Quite the reverse, when you discovered that the potatoes had rotted, you swore, you abused my Son's name. They will continue to rot and by Christmas this year there will be none left."

"If you have grain, it will do you no good to sow it, for what you sow the beasts will devour, and any part of it that springs up will crumble into dust when you thresh it. A great famine is coming. But before that happens, the children under seven years of age will be seized with trembling and die in their parents' arms. The grownups will pay for their sins by hunger. The grapes will rot and the walnuts will turn bad...."

"If people are converted, the rocks will become piles of wheat, and it will be found that the potatoes have sown themselves....

"Only a few rather old women go to Mass in the summer. All the rest work every Sunday throughout the summer. And in winter, when they don't know what to do with themselves, they go to Mass only to poke fun at religion. During Lent they flock to the butcher shops, like dogs.....My children, you will make this known to all people."

OL of Guadelope is one of the best approved. The image of OL on the cloak of Juan Diego says it all.

Another interesting thing I just found out about the cape, the stars on it is the night sky of Jesus' birth... the star of Bethlehem is there.

Mary is pregnant and about to give birth. She came to Juan Diego as the Women in Revelation 12 and she said to Juan Diego, "Am I not your mother? Are you not with in the crossing of my arms...?" beautiful message for us all.

Isn't Juan Diego canonized as well?

Click here to read the messages from Guadalupe.

Have you seen all the semi approved Betania (1976) messages?

For those interested in more information on La Salette and the status of the messages available to us today:

http://jloughnan.tripod.com/sal_decr.htm
THE SUPREME SACRED CONGREGATION OF THE HOLY OFFICE

GIVES A DECREE

CONCERNING THE COMMONLY CALLED "SECRET OF LA SALETTE."

It has come to the attention of this Supreme Congregation that certain ones are not lacking, even from among the ecclesiastic assemblage who, responses and decisions of this Holy Congregation itself having been disregarded, do proceed to discuss and examine through books, small works and articles edited in periodicals, whether signed or without a name, concerning the so-called Secret of La Salette, its diverse forms and its relevance to present and future times; and, this not only without permission of the Ordinaries, but, also against their ban.

So that these abuses which oppose true piety and greatly wound ecclesiastical authority might be curbed, the same Sacred Congregation orders all the faithful of any region not to discuss or investigate under any pretext, neither through books, or little works or articles, whether signed or unsigned, or in any other way of any kind, about the mentioned subject. Whoever, indeed, violates this precept of the Holy Office, if they are priests, are deprived of all dignity and suspended by the local ordinary from hearing sacramental confessions and from offering Mass: and, if they are lay people, they are not permitted to the sacraments until they repent.

Moreover, let people be subject to the sanctions given both by Pope Leo XIII through the Constitution of the offices and responsibilities against those who publish books dealing with religious things without legitimate permission of superiors and by Urban VIII through the decree "Sanctissimus Dominus Noster" given on 13th March 1625 against those who publish asserted revelations without the permission of ordinaries. However, this decree does not forbid devotion towards the Blessed Virgin under the title of Reconciliatrix commonly of La Salette.

DECREE

Wednesday, 9th May 1923
In a General Session of the Supreme Holy Congregation of the Holy Office, eminent and reverend Lord Cardinals appointed for protecting the faith and morals, proscribed and condemned the little work The Apparition of the Most Holy Virgin on the holy mountain of La Salette, Saturday 19 September 1845. - Simple Reprinting of the entire public text by Mélanie, etc. Society Saint-Augustine, Paris-Rome-Bruges, 1922; ordering those to whom it looks to take care to withdraw examples of the condemned book from the hands of the faithful.

And the same holiday and day of the Most Holy Lord. N. D. by the foresight of divine providence Pope Pius XI, in the customary audience of R. P. D. Assessor of the Holy Office has commissioned the report himself and approved the resolution.

Given at Rome from the Holy Office on 10th May, 1923.

Now, the appartion itself is deemed Worthy of Belief. But the messages as they were originally given are lost to us, and all that is left are these corrupted, condemned versions.

Further history on La Salette which may help shed some light on why what we have as messages today are condemned:
In her later life, Melanie Calvat became a controversial figure. The new bishop of Grenoble, who suffered successive embarrassments while trying to defend Melanie, found her to be "willful" and defiant of authority.

Melanie's later reputation was harmed by her credulity in listening to conspiracy theorists, Bourbon Royalists, occultists and Protestants, as well as reading apocalyptic visionary literature. She made increasingly extravagant predictions of impending apocalyptic wars among the great powers that would occur in the 1860s.

The Bishop of Grenoble was forced to declare publicly in 1851 that the mission of the shepherd children had ended and that the matter was now in the hands of the Church. He did this to end Melanie's pretensions to further and continuous revelations. The Bishop made it clear that the approval of the Church was only for the original revelation of 1846 and not for any subsequent claims.

After the Council of the Vatican, Melanie publicly contradicted in 1873 the Council's Decree Pastor Aeternus by claiming that Our Lady had confided in her that "Rome will lose the Faith and become the seat of the Antichrist", a line, according to Unity Publishing and other sources, most likely was borrowed from Martin Luther who first uttered it in opposition to the Catholic Church in 1540. Following this, the Church privately warned her and banned this new message, forbidding Catholics from entertaining or discussing it.

In 1878, she wrote this prohibited new message of 1873 as her original "Secret" of 1846 with the "Imprimatur" of Bishop Zola of Lecce in Italy in a 33 paragraph work published on the 33rd anniversary of the original apparition, on November 15, 1879, under the title, "Apparition of the Blessed Virgin on the Mountain of La Salette". The Vatican promptly put this on the Index of Prohibited Books.

In 1880 the Bishop of Troyes denounced the Lecce-imprimatured book to the Holy Office, and in turn Cardinal Caterini, Secretary of the Congregation of the Holy Office, publicly wrote back to him, the Bishop of Castellammare and the other members of the hierarchy that, "The Holy Office is displeased by the publication of this book. Its express will is that every copy which has been put into circulation be withdrawn, as far as is possible, from the hands of the faithful."

In 1901 Abbe Gilbert Combe published his version of Melanie's latter (1873) prohibited "secret" under the title "The Great Coup and Its Probable Dates", which was anti-Bonaparte and pro-Bourbon. It too was promptly put on the Index.

Again in 1906 another of Combe's publications on this 1873 "secret" titled "The Secret of Melanie and the Actual Crisis" was promptly placed on the Index.

These actions of the Church caused a great deal of confusion in Catholic minds, so that it was compelled to clarify that the original message confided to Maximin and Melanie in 1846 remained approved, and it was only the latter messages, and particularly the 1873 message, contradicting Vatican I, saying "Rome will lose the faith, and become the seat of the Antichrist" that was banned. In October 1912, Albert Lepidi, Master of the Sacred Palace in a public statement in reply to a query by Cardinal Lucon affirmed that the original message of 1846 remained approved.

Once again, during the Pontificate of Pope Benedict XV, the Church was compelled to address the issue. Benedict XV issued an Admonitum (formal Papal warning) recognizing the many different versions of the 1873 secret "in all its diverse forms," and forbidding the faithful or the clergy to investigate or discuss them without permission from their bishops. The Admonitum further affirmed that the Church's prohibition issued under Pope Leo XIII issued in 1879 remained binding.

From the beginning, the 1873 message was exploited by anti-clericals and Freemasons to attack Catholics. In 1916, a Dr. Gremillion of Montpelier, France, published a commentary on the 1873 text under the pseudonym of Maraive, which was put on the Index.

Again, in 1923, a group taking the name "Society of St. Augustine" re-published Gremillion's 1916 commentary. Gremillion distributed a thousand copies of this edition with an anticlerical tract pasted into it. This work too was put on the Index.

The intense confusion deliberately spread by anti-Catholics caused a reaction that caused La Salette to lose its glory and fall back into the slumber of a minor site of Catholic pilgrimage.

The unseeming behavior of Melanie Calvet was to be repeated by the Mariavites who sent a delegation to Pope Pius X demanding that he submit to them, leading to their excommunication and schism.

......

Official position of the Church

Catholics are not required to believe in a miraculous origin for the events at La Salette: as with other Church-approved visions, it is designated "worthy of belief". This approval extends only to the 1846 apparition itself, and some of the miraculous healings. The authentic message of La Salette has never been published, and the widely circulated 1873 "secret" is unreliable, containing lurid imaginings and heretical views reflective of Melanie's later life.

For those interested in more information on La Salette and the status of the messages available to us today:

http://jloughnan.tripod.com/sal_decr.htm

Thats seems unsubstantiated info to me and says nothing about the message but about the secret. Two separate things.

Have you got a more credible source that can be substantiated or anything on the message itself being corrupted as you claim?

I'd be careful of sites on tripod.

The guy putting out this stuff was a Sede Vacantist.

Says so on his freebie page:

my wife, Norma, and I supported the French Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre from 1974 to 1997.

Doesn't look like he is any more but thats enough to make me question if his thinking is warped in an uncatholic/schismatic way.

Don't mean to derail but, what do you think of the SSPX TLF?

Ah, that looks better. I also found this:

New Advent Encyclopedia article on La Salette

and this:

Complete text of the Message and Secret of La Salette

A lot of reading to get through though. Interesting nevertheless.

I think there are quite a few approved apparitions that don't even have messages. Maria Esperanza seems to be the one approved with the most messages.

Those that do have messages approved though like Guadalupe almost always seem to have the same tenor and style. I find that interesting. Its almost like you can tell it was Mary speaking because they all sound like her.

Thanks you two, it's all interesting stuff. I was actually up until 1am last night reading through different ones and watched a few U-tubes of Med, that was fascinating, I know it's not approved.

Apparently Knock had no messages but was an image of the holy family a large number of people saw.

I'm not sure I understand why Garabandal was not approved. Anyone maybe understand better? I read it on miracle hunters but I'm sure there's more to it. I'm still trying to learn how this all works. :)

There are two of them..same name. The later one is in India. Called Panimatha meaning something close to...Snow mother. There was a miracle of snow in August that gave the name.

There are errors on this site, for instance, I believe they listi Naju as approved, and it was outright comdemned. Use such sites with caution.

They list it as a negative decision. That site is generally a good one. Always good to double check though. Miracle Hunter will at least have records of the approvals when such records exist.

Garabandal Videos - Apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary

In fact, the Bishops allow private pilgrimages to Garabandal--a typical practice when an alleged apparition has not yet been approved or condemned. ...

I believe Garabandal currently has a negative decision. Given in 1970 and confirmed in 1996 with the bishops letter showing that the CDF officially confirmed the jurisdiction of the local ordinary following his request in 1991 on jurisdiction the CDF confirmed it was not going to "remove" his jurisdiction in 1992.

Usually when a bishop requests confirmation that the event is local and not global concerning the verification, if it is coming it comes quickly, like at Garabandal.

It's difficult to say what is and is not approved...easier to say what is given "negative decision"

There are many...many pre-20th century approved apparitions. And the research into the issue is pretty demanding. There are, arguably, 13 approved 20th century apparitions (though some would state there are only 9 approved, complicated issue there), about 168 pre-20th century, 92 in the 20th century with a negative decision...basically disapproval. And...235 waiting final decision. Of those 235....faith expression has been approved at the site of, I think, 11.

That means it has the approval of the local Bishop for prayer at the site in relation to the apparition but not the final approval. Some had the opposition of the local Bishop and were eventually named authentic...some never ruled on.

Total...in the 20th century there are 9 definitely approved (with no opposition) and 10 more with approval from the local ordinary (that are of purely local jurisdiction) that means 19 that are basically solid and 168 pre-20th century approved in some fashion. Plus there are 92 that can in no way be supported because they have negative judgment.

So "approved" can (arguably) be said about maybe 187 apparitions/private revelations

The reason the Church does not rule on every one is that She is definite in the belief that revelation of a personal nature such as apparitions are not necessary for salvation or belief. And although ones that go against Church teaching can be harmful...that is easy to spot. And in those cases it is either so obvious and/or they render a direct negative decision.

Now the strongest approval those with more than one of the following...Local, CDF, Pope going there and dedicating a Church, enrollment in the canon of feasts. There are maybe 20-23

From what I understand there have been at leaset 8 Bishops in Santander, and all eight bishops of Santander have from 1961 on, supported by the Holy See in Rome, have publicly declared that no supernatural apparitions had taken place in Garabandal.

Also, evidently all 4 seers have denied they ever really took place.

So yes, Garabandal has been condemned and the authority rests with the Local Bishop where the condemnation took place 8 times.
