  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm confused about what is appropriate to do on the Sabbath. There's a lot of things that I know are wrong to do on the Sabbath (like buy, sell, work, ex.) but other things I'm not sure on. I know we need to consontrate on God all through the Sabbath Day, but how far does that go? Our pastor asked us not to have a baby shower for a couple on the Sabbath and I don't see how having the shower would be wrong since it's doing good. Our pastor also didn't think it was appropriate for the kids to play tag outside on the Sabbath. What are your views on Sabbath activities?

Let me assure you that I take your concerns very seriously.

Also let me assure you that it seems to me that from what you say you have a very wise minister.

When it comes to Sabbath we need look no further than the example that Jesus gave us.

What would Jesus Do?

That at times does not help out young people with questions such as you have but really that is where you should look.

From your nmae I would assume you are young and if that is the case I know how you feel as I have two young kids just in teens and I see all the time nhow the Sabbath to them is a real restriction.

The playing of any sports on Sabbath is not good as it takes away the spiritual blessings that comes from worship. The Sabbath is a day where we spend time with God and friends who will bring us closer to God.

You may think that playing "tag" will do all that. I can tell you one thing for sure it most likely will not.

Walking, bike riding, climbing, doing all those things in nature will bring you closer to God.

Hope this helps, keep asking if it has not and I am sure someone will be able to help.

Blessings

I take this parable when everyone else stop sinning and being faithful then they can tell me how to follow the sabbath. We are all suffering in our sabbath walk. WE need to do as best possible .MY wife and I usually sleep all day Saturday that way we can avoid anything self-righteous. I was on another NON-christian site for awhile I found myself getting angry everyday to non-sense posts and depravity. I once was walking past a restaurant and found to my amazement that some adventist were going in for a lunch after church. I almost said something to the man But GOD tapped me on the shoulder and reminded me how we as sinners are all accountable for our own actions. Sorry im a bit all over the place such is the mindset of an ADHD sufferer GOD bless you all.
