  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Appointed, what does it mean?

Let's take a look at the meaning of the WORD, appointed.

A few minutes ago I was looking at the qualifications on this forum of being a Mod. On the bottom of the page it states: A staff member/Mod must be appointed by "...." first, at the will of the CEO.

It appears to me that if "man" can appoint, why cannot God?

(Okay with respect to the admins/mods reading this thread, the next comment I am making is out of respect and I am using it as an example only to make my point

No disrespect intended)

Even if someone approaches the Staff and asks to be a Mod, submits and application, it does not mean that person will be appointed automatically because that person chooses to submit an application. If I go on a job interview, I cannot force the hand of the boss to hire me. Neither can we force God's hand in election and appointment to salvation. A person can try to "get in" by every other way of approaching God in his own effort, but only God appoints.

To be appointed means exactly what it says. The debates on this forum are simple, WHO is doing the appointing?? Man or God. It cannot be both.

New justices are appointed to the Supreme court, no? Who appoints them? Again, Who appointes who? I have never heard of a Christian, saved by the grace of God, appointing himself to be saved. It's not scriptural and it laughs in the face of God's authority and Sovreignty.

People asked Jesus, "By whose authority do You do these things? " and Jesus replied, "By Whose authority did John the Baptist baptize? Was his authority from "man" or from "God"...
The people did not know how to answer Jesus.
