Well, I obviously don't understand godly love.

Here is Rabbi Dan Juster's definition of love (bolded):

Love is not mere human sentiment - whereby we give people what they desire as long as it does not harm others. This definition is so short sighted. It is actually a false love and it fosters easy divorce, homosexual marriage and a host of other social problems.


Love is passionate identification with the other person, perceiving their worth and seeking their good, guided by the law of God. Love is passionate because it really includes emotional caring. Good is defined as the destiny fulfillment of a person. This destiny is founded upon a loving relationship with God and others. The worth of people is defined by their being created in God's image, and by the fact that God sent his Son to die for them (John 3:16). However, the good of people has to be defined as guided by law. Nothing that goes against God's foundational moral law is ever good for people in the long run. Destiny fulfillment is always in unity with the law. This is why Biblical love is always lawful. I John is full of verses on this! This means that if we love people, we seek to establish an order of righteousness or justice for their good.

Just to let you know, the love I have for my wife of 49 years is not false and the love I have for my children, grandchildren, extended family and friends is not false.
As I said to you in a previous post, if I don't like what someone says I don't have it edited or deleted, I tell them I don't like it and why. So I'm telling you I don't like what you said and the reason is that I consider you to be full of self-righteous religious arrogance. Now go ahead and have that edited or deleted if it makes you feel better.

The word for jealous, qannâ', is actually at it's root "zealous."

Surely then that would mean the KJV bible is in error as translators have clearly not interpreted the Hebrew word correctly?

I am not a KJV only guy, but that wouldn't mean they were wrong. Every word has more than one meaning and translators are humans who have good intentions but who see through their own bias (like we all do) when translating. In this case though, we can see that one who is jealous would have a zeal for whatever it is they long for and think belongs to them. So the connection of jealous and zealous is pretty clear.

If God’s name is even referred to as Jealous then clearly it doesn’t mean zealous. You do violence to the truth of Gods word when you lie about Hebrew meanings.

Every jot, every title, every comma, every full stop every thee every thou. Have any “scholars” found so much as a spelling mistake or grammatical error in the KJV? No but according to you they got all the words wrong.

I find referring to an English dictionary works better than referring to the Greek and Hebrew. I’m English. Did God give me a perfect bible in English? If not, then I’m not interested in it’s content. Frankly neither should any seeker of truth be either.

There is too much information proving the demonic perversion of Scripture in English translations compared to the KJV. If you aren’t reading a KJV, you aren’t reading the bible, nor do you need to run to the Greek or limp to the Hebrew.

My faith isn't dependent upon an inerrant translation of the Bible. My faith is dependent upon Jesus Christ crucified and risen from the dead.

If your faith hinges upon the inerrancy of an 18th century revision of a 17th century translation of the Bible, then you're doing Christianity wrong.

I need more than that. I need bonified accounts from eyewitnesses. Thank fully that’s what God gave me. If your translation isn’t inerrant then your Jesus is a myth. Salvation hinges on belief. I require what I believe to be True. I don’t rely on some rag full of errors. Quite the opposite.

Hey, thanks for the lessons. I will try not to offend your sensibilities with an attempt at an answer.

The word qannâ' (H7067 - jealous, as in Exodus 20:5) means jealous. The word is spelled, quf nun alef. Please remember that.

The word qannâ' (H7067) is derived from H7065 (which means zealous), which is spelled, quf nun alef. The spelling is exactly the same, only the vowel points are different. Which means, there is a clear and inarguable link between H7067 and H7065. Since Strong's and other lexicons ALL have determined that H7067 COMES FROM H7065, then me saying, "the root meaning of qannâ' is zeal" is 100% accurate.

By the way, Brown Driver Briggs has this for 7065:

BDB Definition:
1) to envy, be jealous, be envious, be zealous

Hmm, scholars put jealous and zealous as possible meanings for the same one word? Wow, I am crazy!

Perhaps all this doesn't mesh with your theology or your understanding of the Hebrew language. But that would be on you and not the Hebrew nor anything else.
