On a similar note, my faculties came through and my role in the communion service is now greatly increased. This meant that my mentor had me say the service all the way through ante-communion and prepare the gifts for the consecration. So, when he mixes the water and wine he adds the most water of anyone I've seen and dilutes close to 50/50. A put a good splash in, but if I had to guess, I probably used only a third of the water he does in the chalice. A few people's eyes bulged out when they got a sip of that mixture.

Well, my mentor is the most low-church chap in our diocese. He is actually broad, but he treats his two parishes differently and the main parish is populated mostly with folks far on the Protestant end of the spectrum, so he goes a bit low there. The Abp. would like to see the churchmanship elevated a bit and carefully instructed me in what his expectations are. But I do not currently sing any part of the service.

Also, that is partly because our organist is a nazi about singing in the set key and other trivial things. I can sing well enough, but my range is limited. The music in the hymnal usually strains my upper register to its limit or a bit beyond. I was taught to just move the key down a few whole-steps, but that really rubs her the wrong way.

Ah, the perennial power struggle between cedilia and organ stool...

My organist dictated the time of the Good Friday service this year. I was not best pleased, but there are some arguments it's not worth winning.

Next year, if she goes to school, will be her first year (the Australian school year starts at the end of January).

We are not sure whether or not we will send her next year or hold her back a year (she has autism and that has delayed her development in some key ways), but at the moment we are doing everything as if she will go next year and hoping that closer to the time we can be confident that she will be ready.

She went fine at the orientation session - very excited to see so many "friends" - so that is encouraging!

Wow, it was a big day!!! It is awesome that she is getting excited about it. Does your area have preschool programs for children with autism?

My daughter is 2 and I love staying home with her. So many online mom friends of children the same age are already discussing preschool and I can't imagine sending her off by herself yet. She loves see kids out and about but still is very shy about interacting with them up close.

There are special schools with preschool programmes, but we've had Zoë in mainstream kindergarten, which has been really good for her. Because she is very bright, but struggles with social interactions, being around lots of neurotypical children has been very good for helping her develop that set of skills.

I must admit I didn't love the stay-at-home mum bit. Zoë was two when I was ordained, and being able to balance my time with her, with some time at work, was really good for me. But it helped that my husband cut his work back to part-time, so she was at home with us, just it wasn't me all the time!

I think you'll find your daughter will grow up so much in the next year or so. When Zoë was two we couldn't imagine that she was ready for that kind of structured setting; by the time we did send her, at just-turned-four, she was bored at home and I couldn't easily keep up with keeping her stimulated and learning as much as she would like. She took to kinder like a duck to water, and by that point we were really grateful for the fifteen hours a week of peace and quiet!

This little bundle of energy wears me down quickly. I have had her at home for four straight days due to a training day at her daycare, the American weekend, and a Federal holiday today. It is grating on me, to be honest, especially since she has a sniffle and is not herself at the present. She is also missing her mommy, who is out to sea at present.

We are on the revised one year lectionary that was prepared in 1943, if memory serves, for the 1928 American Prayer Book. I am curious to know what some of our other posters will have in the readings for this Sunday.

I feel that I have some worthwhile things to say about the text. It is a text that I had to study in some depth for a NT course called "Studying and Teaching the Bible" that I did in my initial degree. That course required, as the major project, that a full set of lesson plans be prepared for the Philippian epistle. My major emphases are an interweaving of the idea of koinonia and intentional prayer.
