I haven't finished the entire series yet...I've just read 1 and 2...but I like it. :)

Have you seen the films?

don't quit readinging them, i know it gets slow, you are on assassins right? just wait till the end and things will start getting a little more interesting. trust me i have read the whole series and i am rereading it right now. don't stop readign it. things will get better, or in the case of the subject of the book, worse. just wait until the last couple of books, things really heat up.

I've got to be honest.... I hated them. I read the whole series, and found the dialogue stilted and the plot uninspired. I guess there's nothing dreadfully wrong about them, but really, if your going to wade your way through 3000 odd pages of that, then you can read something much more worthwhile.

I've read the entire twelve. I hear there's a "prequel" in the works (or maybe it's already out . . . I dunno).

I don't mean to be overly-critical, but I didn't like the series. Plot development was mundane, characters one-dimensional, narrative overly-"preachy".

In fairness, Jenkins does a reasonably good job with dialogue.

The best I can say in regard to the books is that they were better than the subsequent motion pictures.

I'll stick with C. S. Lewis, thank ya. In regard to film, "The Matrix" was a whole lot more inspiring (from a Christian perspective) and better acted than were the strained efforts of Kirk what's-his-name.

If Christian fiction and Christian film continue to play to the lowest common denominator (as the "Left Behind" series does), audiences are going to eventually forget there once were Christian authors of real substance, e.g., Lewis, T. S. Eliot, John Donne, John Bunyan, et.al.

"Left Behind" should probably have been left alone.

I've read all the books, but at the end I felt they were really drawing it out and it got so boring I practically skimmed the last three books desperately trying to get it over with so I could just write down the pages for school. I do agree that they're better than the movies.

I have read them all except the last in the series. I enjoyed them, but I am easily entertained. True... they definitely aren't great literature, but I don't think that was the intent...(to wow you with awesome prose). It was just a good series to make me think a bit in regards to the end times. Remember, it isn't the Bible, so we won't try to pick it apart (because some of us here could... LOL). I actually have read many in the kids series too, and like them also.

I've read them all - once I start a series I want to finish it, just because that's how I tend to read.

I enjoyed the first few books however the last 4 or so really dragged - I wouldn't bother reading them again.

The Glorious Appearing was by far my least favorite - infact I wouldn't have bothered reading it at all if I'd known better at the time.

I guess basically :
Some idea's were interesting, most were farfetched ... the plot seemed to drag after "The Mark",The last book was horrible.

.

I read the first book, years and years ago. Not long after it came out. I really enjoyed it. The second book wasn't bad. Then I read an article that there would probably be 1 or 2 more books. They wanted to finish it not into dragging it out forever. I then kept reading till I got to about number 6 or 7. I don't know but I realized that the last book I was reading only was about a week time block. That was insane!!!!!! I quite with about 3 chapters left in the book. I found it insulting and haven't read since. I will admit that I have thought of finishing since the last book is really out now. But seeing what Anij said, I may not.

The only reason that I read the last 4 books at all was because they were in the $4.99 bin at the book store here ( for the hardcover) and I still think I wasted my money !

do yourself a favour - and borrow it form the library if you plan on reading it - it's long , drawn out , and was a bear to read.

Thanks for the tip. And I thought the Glorious Appearing was the last book. So there is still one more, The Rapture? I guess I assumed all that would be wrapped up in the Glorious Appearing.

I wouldn't read it if you PAID me for it.
I might just as well pick up the habit of reading Chick tracts and pretend that they're highly intelligent philosophical treatises.

Thousands of pages of third-rate fiction that deal with a literal interpretation of the highly metaphorical Book of Revelation, all written for the purpose of winning converts and keeping believers in line?

No, thank you very much.

I have just finished the Indwelling. so far I've really enjoyed the series. I read the previous four books in 2 weeks time. The plot is good, not fantastic, but keeps you wanting to know more. I eagerly await the next series from these wonderful writers.
