  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Excellent advice. It could become discouraging and then it becomes very easy to quit.

I started riding my bike but have not been doing it every day like I should and I walked/ran (more walking then running) on the treadmill 2 days ago. At least I'm trying I just need to stay with it.

P.S. 4 slices of angel food cake last night probably didn't help.

Hello there
I just got my report from my Doctor on my check-up and bloodwork. All my blood work was good. She was pleased with my loss of weight and my triglycirides was normal. I contribute it to exercising and eating right. Most of the time anyhow. I do fall back occasionally. I mostly give the glory to the lord for helping me with it. I could not do it alone. He gets the GLORY!

I want to lose 40lbs , how are you losing your weight? as we get older seems to get harder to lose weight. I had no weight problem until I started getting older. Dr wants me to lose 40lbs to help my back after my surgery .also have a very bad hip have bad arthritis.

I would suggest that you read this entire thread from the beginning. There are some good suggestions there. Not everyone responds the same to diet techniques but I can tell you how I lost my weight. You would probably would be well advised to find out from your doctor what you can and cannot tolerate as far as fasting type diets go. Your particular medical condition may prohibit certain diets. Approach anything that adjusts your nutrional habits with caution!!!

I'll help all I can but I can only tell what has worked for me.

Hello to all my fellow diet and exercise trying friends. I am still riding my bike at least 4 times a week, sometimes more for 6 to 9 miles. I don't think I have lost any weight yet or that I can tell. I don't own a scale I just judge by how my clothes fit. I hate watching scales. Hugs to you all.

That's a good one, Larry.

Losing weight when you have physical problems that prevent exercise is very difficult. The best thing to do is cut back on portion sizes and eat a little less of everything. It is just a very difficult thing to do.

Well, fellow lovers of good food, I'm hanging in here and a teensy bit at a time, some of that nasty ole fat is beginning to fade. OHHHHH, its not the easiest thing in the world, and I surely get discouraged, but I keep plodding along. In my never ending quest to figure out how to get in better shape (or at least to arrive at better numbers on the scales ), I've finally figured out my portion sizes must still just be too big. I found this information yesterday and thought I'd share it. Now I'm using my ice cream scoop to measure out my veggies and I'll have to buy myself a deck of playing cards to measure out my meats:

If you'll watch the slide show, you'll see what I mean. WOW -- I'm really eating too much!! I'll start by cutting down about 1/3 and work from there until I can get it down more. Meanwhile any of you who are struggling like me, please know you're in my prayers. With God's help and some self control, we'll all be the Fit Golden Eagles!!!
