  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We bought a pedometer but don't think it works just right. From what I've read a brisk walk of about 20 to 30 minutes is very good. If it causes you to break a sweat even better.
I've dropped a couple of pounds since last week, so maybe I'm on a bit of a roll (and hopefully will get rid of a fat roll)

Great

Yes,the pedometers can be tricky to set, it took me awhile to figure it out. I used it for awhile last summer when doing a daily morning walk on the beach but haven't used it since. I think my secret to losing weight is not decreasing my calories but increasing my exercise. I'll start tomorrow.;)

Biking is great. One of the things that hampers me from biking is that I can't find a seat comfortable enough. Also I develop a numbness in my hands. However you get to see more of the terrain and of course travel further. We bought 2 new bikes last year but haven't ridden in a while. May start again, tomorrow ;)

I think I have been quite good today...

Breakfast was a bowl of fruitn fibre with semi skimmed milk. Midmorning I had a small banana and (very naughty) one tiny amoretti biscuit. Lunch was leek and potato soup with a small mult-grain roll and a glass of apple and mango juice. Dinner was a bowl of Greek Salad made with low fat soft cheese. I may have a low fat yoghurt later. Been really bad about my water intake today tho'.

Sounds good!! It is about 2:20 pm here and my nutritional intake has been. 4 hard boiled eggs, 4 tablespoons of Wheat Bran mixed with honey an one protein drink 8 ounces with Soy milk. Plus some coffee and a maintenance drink that I mix up for other reasons, health related. Thinking of an orange, yes, I think I'll have one.

God Bless,
Larry

Wow, you all are very good for me. Just listening to your healthy eating habits has made me take more notice of what I am eating and more importantly how much.
I agree if I could just discipline myself to walk or bike everyday those extra pounds would come off and I would feel better.

Leyton, I think using the pedometer is a good idea and good ideas only come from great minds.

Keeptrying, Thank you for your kind words regarding the pedometer.

I have to admit I failed yesterday. In the evening I had a small piece of Rob's delicious date and pecan cake...and boy didn't I suffer after. I was so uncomfortable.:(

Anyway, today is a new day, a blessing from the Lord. The sun is shining and the birds are singing. We are having some young friends over to dinner this evening, it is their first wedding anniversary on Sunday.:)

Blessings to you all.

:wave:Good morning, everyone!!! Fixing myself a bowl of those steel cut oats this morning. Hoping to just get by with a salad for lunch and maybe some fruit later. We'll have whole grain spaghetti noodles with a nice marinara sauce for dinner (no meat). I was thinking about making some italian bread, but may just skip it and have the spaghetti and a nice green salad for dinner. Blessings and happy trails to the walkers/bikers!!!

I agree!! Exercise (or the lack there of) is my biggest problem. Maybe I will go to the mall.... and window shop... naaa I'd get tempted at the ice cream stand.

Getting more exercise is a vital key to good health. I noticed there was an article in the AARP magazine saying that only 30 minutes of walking each day was of great benefit in warding off heart disease. I'm sure its good for better circulation, stronger muscles and clearer thinking as well, but that's just my humble opinion. I'll be thinking and praying for all of you today as we embark on a healthier lifestyle. Blessings!!! :holy:

Hmmm. I'm going to have to have a chat with my mailman, somehow my invitation to dinner did not arrive. :( Oh, well, I'll just have to settle for a limp grass salad and hope it arrives for the next big dinner party. ^_^ ^_^ :sigh:

Where are the healthy eating, exercising Eagles???? Come on guys 'n gals, rally behind the cause. Valentine for one needs to take off a few pounds!! I need your "you go girl" and "keep up the good work" cheers to prod me on to success!!! :help: On a good note, I was happy to see a half-pound disappear when I weighed in today. The way I see it, that's better than a gain, right? Did fairly well today although I didn't do my power walk and took the day off due to aching legs (I guess they just don't like this cool damp weather we're having) :( , but I did no snacking, had a nice yogurt with fruit for breakfast and a salad with some sliced turkey for lunch. Tonight will be whole grain pasta with homemade marinara (veggie only) sauce and a nice salad. The recipe is over on the recipe exchange thread and is one of my favorites. It'll be tasty. Yummmm.

From my experience the "diet" thing if that's how we want to label ti works best when you tally up the successes only. Anything other than that seems to tear down what we have accomplished and lead back to a life of unhealthy eating habits. So whether it is 1/2 pound or 1/10 pound and whether it was last week or last year the future has not happened yet so we can look forward to a better one if we want to.

As for me I have a doctor appt. tomorrow and get to report that I am no longer on any prescription medicine. Do you think he will be pleased....!!!
