  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was wondering if anyone else here uses e-Sword. If you're not familiar with it, it's a free Bible study software with a lot of good and free resources. There are some modules (books) that are only available by purchase, but they're reasonably priced. I've made quite a few resources for it myself, though mine are free and in the public domain.

I would be interested in knowing your opinions on it. If you use a different program feel free to say why you prefer it instead.

If anyone is interested, here's a link to the website.

I have it but use it very rarely, just not crazy about the layout. For bible study I used Bible Explorer 4 with the ESV code put in there. Doesn't have as much free stuff but it does have a lot of free things, as well as a much better customizable layout and I love it. BibleExplorer 4 is free as well.

You can also get lots more free modules, including Calvin's commentaries, at this site.

I'm a member of that site and even have a few modules hosted there. All of my modules are hosted at the following site.

I have both e:sword and Quickverse. Quickverse is a program that is NOT free, and is supposed to be really great, but I really prefer e:sword. It's easier to use, and has at least as much if not more information.

I've heard of Quickverse, but I've never used it. It can be expensive from what I recall. I hear it's a good program though.

They switched the layout just recently.

I have tried BibleExplorer4 before. It's a good program, but too many of the resources (including public domain works) aren't free.

I just wish it had more patristic* resources.

I know that the Ante-Nicene, Nicene, and Post-Nicene Fathers collections are available, but I'm not sure if anything else is available.

*Yes, I had to look that word up.

Yeah they don't have the huge amounts of resources available in the free dept. as Esword, that is a big drawback. With the free resources from them though I will have a long time to go before reading all of them. I will have to try the new Esword layout. :)
