Cool. Actually, I am mostly German and Italian, then English some, just a little French lol I just love the language and am trying to learn it.

Hablo un poco de español.
I just COULD NOT roll my tongue i sounded so fake plus my friend is learning French, so I decided on it. I only know a tiny bit right now though. But man I am having trouble with the French r and the nasals, but i can at least DO them, just not good u know?

You will probably find that, as you listen to native speakers, the sounds will start to come before you know it. I have experienced that while listening to and practicing Spanish. I found myself mimicking the speakers.

Oh, another thing that I found is that I could listen and recite even while doing artwork, even though I wasn't concentrating on the words. My mouth didn't care whether I paid close attention or not, and speech improved. Some people would not want to do that, though, because (so they say) art is right-brained and language is left-brained, so it's hard to do both. But--at that time,my mind is not really on the language so much. I'm just exercising my mouth!

Ok, I'll shut up. I'm talking too much.

Hey CeeBee... The Catholic population is more in southeast and southwest LA. It's like a different world down south from central and northern LA.

BTW everybody I'm from the metro NO area, I'm in the suburbs.
I keep saying I'm going to visit New Orleans but I haven't gotten down there. Yes, South Louisiana is much different from where I live. It's pretty good from my end, because I can drive for half a day or less, and it will seem as though I am far away...for far less gas money!!! We Louisianians were diverse before it became fashionable. :D

I wanted to comment from the guy who had the lady tell him that Assemby of God was not pentecostal to shed some light on why she probably did that. The general Pentecostal Church (First Penecostal, United PEntecostal) etc doctrine preaches that a person must speak in tongues as a requirement for salvation. The Assemblies of God doctrine is different in that they beleive that the evidence of the "baptism of the holy spirit" is by speaking in tongues but we (AG) do not beleive that speaking in tongues is essential for salvation. Other than this distinction the doctrines of the two churches are almost identical.

My eyes about popped out of my head when I clicked on my PC and saw "160 mph hurricane headed right for Louisiana!"
One qoute in the article said "This is the one storm Louisiana has feared for years."

30 years ago a Hurricane hit that spot. 60,000 homeless, some places had 20 feet of flooding, 74 people died.
This is no jock, whole sections will be flattened with massize tornados and gusts of winds that could take a car and throw it through a building.

My prayers are with all the people in the path of Katrina. I hope you all evacuate to some place safe.

Same here. It's not looking too pretty for New Orleans, or for some more places. I'm praying for mercy for all involved.

My family is scattered about LA. I am the first generation “Yankee” as they put it! I am the first to be born outside of LA, or Texas. They are from Monroe, Shreveport, Chatham, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. One cousin is in a suburb on the southeast side of Baton Rouge – hoping his home is ok with the flooding. Another has a law firm in New Orleans - of course devistated.

Thank God they all evacuated to Monroe. So they are doing fine. :prayer:

Just wanted to let you all know you are in our prayers over here! And remember things can be replaced people cannot!

Hey LA ppl! I'm so glad I looked here. I live in Kentucky now, but I am a Louisianian all the way. Born and raised in Minden (halfway between Bossier and Ruston). Lived next to Barksdale for a year of my life. Went to college at LaTech (was a regular at the Wesley Foundation). Married a guy from Lafayette, so now I have inlaws in Hammond, Albany, Tickfaw, and Alexandria as well.

KY is fun but the food has nothing on my Mother in law's seafood gumbo! (drool, oops).
