Hi people, I'm looking for people from the Houston area in Texas. I'm particularly interested in getting into touch with people who attend (or know about) the Lakewood Church in Houston. Lakewood church... think I've heard of it. Is that Joel Ostean or however you spell it.

Don't attend church there anyhow.

I'll just chat if you wish. Or answer questions and ask them.

Been a houstonian for six months now. Don't think we're going anywhere unless the Lord moves us.

It's been an interesting experience and I'm getting used to it here.

Don't like the freeways and am not to fond of the drivers either.

I prefer rural areas. City living takes some getting used to0.

The one I go to is in the Heights, 11th and Studemont. But there are a few around the area.

I live in Southeast Houston and attend Sagemont Baptist. Our pastor John Morgan is VERY grounded into the bible. Is what you would call an old school preacher. Ive been there since I was born. It was where I met my girlfriend.

i've been somewhat going to sugar creek baptist. had a tough time and didn't attend for a couple months.

we'll see ... going to go meet with someone tomorrow.

I'm from the Houston area (just north of Houston actually) but I've never been to Lakewood church. I prefer a smaller congregation since I grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone. I have known friends who attend or attended the church in the past... some had very positive experiences, some not so much.

I went to Lakewood to see Joyce Myer last November. It's located inside what used to be the Summit. It's a very impressive place, the auditorium is massive. I live in North Houston near the Woodlands, so Lakewood is way too far for me. I'm not really into the fancy, big production Church services, but if it brings people closer to God I have no problem with it.

I live In Tomball. I have never been to Lakewood, I go to the new Tomball branch of the Fellowship of The Woodlands.

I live in Houston but I don't have a home church, I stay away from the politics and money thirsty groups (when I have no money anyway)

I should probably start a new thread, but....

We are looking into moving to the Houston area from New England. Any one have any impressions of Spring Branch? I've been told their school system is good for kids with autism (my youngest has autism so we need special services for him).

ive never been to lakewood, but would like to vist one day. went to a lot of concerts in their building when it used to be the summit, then compaq center.
sure looks pretty, they spent a ton to make it like that.

I'm jealous of you guys

Me and my wife would really like to move to Texas, preferably Houston next summer. It would be a dream come true.

My wife can get a sponsored working VISA (she is a teacher) so I think I can "tag a long" on that one but I'm deeply worried about not getting a job once we are there...

Do you guys know any good sites where you can search for jobs? (I have a master's degree in economics). Any advice would be really appreciated.
