Anyone else sense a spirit of bitterness here?

Do others see there are well known members of high status and semingly loved by all on CF who, to my thinking, walk on hard nails and whose hearts are as solid as stone?
This troubles me more than I can say.
Just wondered if others found the same to be true.

If this is in the wrong forum I don't really care. Ban me for life if you wish.
CF is a net drag on the things of God. I belong to a couple of secular forums as well as CF. They treat people with far more love and respect than you'll ever find here.

I disagree from what I've seen. I have seen some debates go too far, so you might want to avoid debate threads. Read the CF Rules and know that you can report posts that violate those rules. In short, I've been treated good here.

I just returned to CF after a long absence, as my account got messed up when CF switched to their new software system. I do recall back when I was posting that there were times when insults would go flying back and forth. I hope that things have improved, but if not, then we all should be sad.

I haven't been on here for awhile, so I am not sure. If you feel like I have contributed to that in some way, please let me know privately. My experience with secular forums is that they are very kind and engaging until you mention the Lord, then the atmosphere changes quite a bit.

My experience here has both challenged and built my faith, particularly when I had to defend my posts. But I feel at home here brother. Not sure about your concern, but am certain that you'll always be welcome, even if you disagree with the points of view mentioned in this forum. I shall pray for you.

Your brother,
Yagna Mukkamala.

.....
.... same on Christian forums anywhere - "until you mention (((their village)))" (anyone's)

"Their village" being their support system, whatever they trust in, or depend for their life on, or their friends.
So, like on the secular forums, which always hate Jesus,
so also
if you bring up anything (or they think you do) that challenges someone's support (who they trust),
they may get defensive , or offended, and make a stink over it - even 'reporting' you or banning you , whatever is in their power to do.

Old cliques(worldly ones) especially are difficult. You don't want to be in them, and they back one another up instead of seeking what is true and right, so they may make things difficult for anyone they don't approve of.

And then there's another guy who touts himself as a "logical debater--for good or bad" and turns every thread he's on into a debate, and then tries to moderate the debate, nitpicking other posters to death and grading them as if it were a high school formal debate.

I'm not that guy. Read the CF Rules. I think they're quite reasonable.

The one of whom I spoke is definitely not you. And I agree with you about the forum rules here. They do allow for some heated debate w/o allowing things to degenerate too badly. The mods are diligent and do a good job of that, but they're not omnipresent or omniscient.

This is so true ,particularly in the bigger religious groupings .

They are quite reasonable, but some people mistake that and think that means whatever they read here, on the forum, is right/ or okay. That's very far from true. (less than half the posts or threads are right/ or okay, if you checked anytime?) .
And there are strict rules about revealing whose not right sometimes (i.e. it's not directly allowed), although it really is more a matter of not enough time , and it's not practical, to even try to start to show the difference between right and wrong, according to Scripture, for a great majority of the posts..... - it's like Athens here.... not like assembly of believers or even a synagogue)

To a certain extent, absolutely.

A lot of people, frankly, should be ashamed of themselves for behaving the way they do as professing Christians.

A lot of people I wonder whether they're even Christian at all. By their fruit, after all...

I think a lot of people like the title but not the responsibility and expectations that profession of Christ demands. What they like less is being reminded that we aren't to be uncharitable, unloving, speak unwholesome words(whether to a member, another person in their lives or a politician on the opposite side of the fence), etc.

I found the debate or contentious threads bringing the worst out in me. I became as bad the posters I was offended or annoyed by. Nearly as bad. :)
I'm on here to develop my faith, so am more drawn to matters of the heart, not the intellect.

I do apologize, but I have to disagree with the OP. From the second I posted my introduction, I felt welcomed and wanted here.

I had some problems when I first came in; those are gone now. With much prayer from here definitely and at home too (obviously) my dreams of having our family back together came true and I am engaged to a wonderful man.

I owe most of this to the folks who are such nice friends who prayed for me and yes, you all know who you are. And my Chaplains! God bless all of you! And I've gotten advice on things I desperately needed help with, and oh -- my blog!

Everyone has been so kind. Even in debates people can be kind. The only times it gets hairy for me was once when I was confronted by a flat-earther who decided this was a Fundamentalist belief. Um, NO, I'm a Fundamentalist Christian and we do not do flat earth anything. Okay? Seriously -- where did this crazy idea that somehow we Fundies horked up a belief in a flat earth come from? Hmmm? Because we dress modestly, we must believe the earth is flat? Because we live in a secluded community away from the town and its people we must believe the earth is flat? Because we believe in being farmers and providing for ourselves as much as possible we have to believe the earth is flat? I even asked our pastor, Rev. R, if there were anywhere in any Fundamentalist teachings or doctrines that taught or presented the idea of a flat earth society or belief. At first he laughed at me, then he saw I was serious and said, "No, Sister Emmy, we don't believe that. It's true some of other religions do but I don't know if that is a part of a church's doctrine or not. As you get out more and meet more people, you'll find that there are all kinds of crazy ideas out there, and that's one of them. And it's good to ask these questions, Sister Emmy. Keep asking, too. God gave you a good mind; I'm glad you use it."

The second one was in the same vein where it was stated that Fundamentalists hated Catholics and some other religions. Well, I can tell you that that is just so much crap it isn't even funny. We don't see religion any more than we see skin color. We don't care if you're Catholic or Lutheran or Methodist or Baptist or Mormon or whatever. If you believe in God, awesome! You're a brother or sister in Christ to us. Don't like that? Too bad. Also -- surprise, surprise -- we aren't going to try to "convert" you. Now I do know there are some loonies out there who will try to convert you by scaring you and telling you terrible lies about your church or religion. They believe they are the only ones going to Heaven and the rest of the planet is going to hell and their lives are caught up minding the business of others, where they have no right to be in anyway! There are some of these who call themselves "Fundamentalist Christians," but they are not. Stay far, far away from these people. I mean it. They will even scare your children, and they have been known to follow women around.

Okay, I'm done with issues I have here. I have been made to feel as if I walk into a very special place when I log in. I find my friends, lots of things to talk about, the Angel prayers, my blog, fun and serious stuff all together waiting for me. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry, but I love this place all the time. A bunch of you prayed for me when I was sick that time and I just can't thank you precious souls enough for that.

Also, I'm getting married in October, so I'll need a little help. I bet it will be fun to get together and discuss ideas! Faroukfarouk was awesome about dresses and came up with some great ideas! So come join the fun with me when I post it! I want the whole mountain to know this girl knows how to throw a party!

God bless every single one of you.

All good things
Emmy
