  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

LINCOLN — A judge has thrown out a Nebraska legislator's lawsuit against God, saying the Almighty wasn't properly served due to his unlisted home address.State Sen. Ernie Chambers filed the lawsuit last year seeking a permanent injunction against God.

He said God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents in Omaha, inspired fear and caused "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants."

Do you agree with his thesis? That if God is omniscient then He doesn't need to be served the papers?

I'm not sure how to answer that, other then taking a common sence opinion as I am known for ;)

Since God made eveything and all are subject to Him whether they acknowledge Him or not, its rather stupid to think that one can sue God. Is it not?

well here's the deal - he's a professed agnostic

seems like he'd have to acknowledge the existence of God to assert that God is omniscient - can't have it both ways

I agree with this. Trying to sue God means that you think that God is subject to human laws, court rulings, sanctions, etc. That is absolutely absurd.

yeah, and besides... just how does one enforce an injunction against G-d??

pardon my paranoia, but I would not put it past the "other side" to have a plan that includes this "chess move" that eventually establishes a "checkmate" enforcing injunctions against preaching/teaching/outward representations of G-d by His followers based on accumulated "court precedents" such as this would be if allowed to go to court and winning the case.... we've see essentially the same happen with public prayer, gay rights, display of your bible or other religious item on your desk at work, a valedictorian including G-d in her graduation speech, preaching the truth about sin behavior choices, etc....

But does he have to acknowledge the existence of God if the court has deemed that God exists?

And if the court has deemed that God exists, think of the precedence that presents!

Too bad he's not the only one who would file a lawsuit against God.

What I find kinda alarming...is that I don't find things like this surprising anymore...

:sigh:

So....if it did go to trial...would he (the guy suing God) still have to "swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth...so help him God"

Or was that thrown out too when I blinked?

Abomination! Lord have mercy on Ernie Chambers!

And that's just one of the many things that is so awesome about our God...

Luk 23:33 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.
Luk 23:34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
And they divided His garments and cast lots.

God's grace, mercy and forgiveness is available...even to those who zealously set out to persecute (prosecute) Him and those who belong to Him.

Look at Paul (Saul)...now there's a 180 if I ever saw one

Act 9:3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.
Act 9:4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
Act 9:5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord?"
Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads."

God knows this guy...the number of the hairs on his head...I wonder what God thinks of things such as this?
