Anyone else have an issue why this guy quit his job as a pastor?

I told u my situation lol...but lots of people are wolves in sheep's clothing and don't care for the congregation it's just abt personal gain.

I was put off by him quitting because he found he could make more money elsewhere. Thats just insane. You don't become a pastor for money. While I was reading that article I was waiting for them to address the big elephant in the room named hypocrisy. But of course they never did.

I feel some people never confront the pastor's out of fear...even though they're dead wrong.

I read the article last night too and was kinda put off by him quitting. But also we don't know exactly how he is ministering now. It did say he has the money to adopt now, so who knows maybe this is where God lead him? I hope he is doing what the Lord wants him to do.

I agree Its good if a pastor can make money somewhere out of church. nothing wrong with that. Paul worked as tent maker.

Well Pastoring is not for everybody; Pastors should live off of the labor they perform according to the Word, and if he was barely able to provide for his family as a Pastor, at least he found honest work outside of the church where he can make more.

Of course I'm not advocating that people should become pastors just for the money; a person should become a pastor to serve God in a special way, and to serve his people, no matter how much money is/isn't involved. Obviously him leaving his position as a pastor is a fruit of his true motivations for becoming one in the first place, but here's the thing: if he wasn't that dedicated to the work of God in the position of pastor to begin with, I'm glad he decided to leave the post and make his money elsewhere. This allows another man to rise up who perhaps has a truly dedicated heart to the service of God and will be better used by the Lord than this guy could have ever been. I don't condemn him for his decision of pursuing a different work, but rather rejoice that he, who isn't blameless, has left a very important position before causing further harm and potential damage to the people of Christ.

I actually kind of sympathize with the guy for having all of that debt. I don't want to assume that this was originally why he wanted to be a pastor. But I don't know why he'd completely leave it, if he thought that was his calling. So that part is strange.

My college roommate Jim (about a year after he came to faith in the Lord) made a very profound statement:

The devil will provide what ever will distract you from following the Lord. If it is a girlfriend, he will lead you to a girlfriend. If it is a UFO, he will show you one of those, If it is a job, he will provide it. All to distract you away from from following the Lord and His plan for you.

It is possible that the guy just got distracted by the $$ and it took him off of his appointed path.
