  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone, I'm brand spankin' new here.

I'm Marie Anne and one of my favorite hobbies is crocheting. I make baby blankets, full sized afghans, lapghans, scarves, kitchen sets (dishcloths, hot pads, placemats). I'm working on afghans and scarves now for a group I barter with and will be getting some nice Christmas presents.

Another crocheter checking in. I make lots of blankets, baby caps and teddybears for charity. I also make sweaters for my children and LOTS of christmas gifts. so far for this year I have:

24 doilies of various sizes
4 hat/scarf sets
8 other scarves
3 pillows
1 table runner

I need to make another hat/scarf set, a CareBear, a skullie and a shrug.

I have recently gotten "hooked" on hairpin lace. It makes lovely lacy scarves and is soooo simple!

I crochet now and then, but nothing really complicated. I can usually figure out complicated stitch patterns, but I haven't done anything shaped--just squares and rectangles (blankets, shawls, etc.). It's something for me to do while watching TV or movies. For some reason, I can't just sit there and watch anything; I need to have something to do, something productive.

I love to crochet! I knit as well. But when I knit, I prefer very simple stitches so that I can just relax and watch t.v. When I crochet, I love to challenge myself because it's so creative and fascinating. Right now, I am participating in a crochet-a-long where we are all making a filet fairy. The host of the crochet-a-long is Ferosa, who is also the designer and a very nice person. Her Web site is here if anyone reading this would like to join the crochet-a-long:

(just email her to ask about the fairy filet crochet-a-long)

Hi Marie Anne! I'm also a fellow crocheter! Right now I'm working on a single granny square afgan for my neice for Christmas. I'm hoping to find time (if I can get myself off off of this silly computer!) to finish it today. Then I'll make another for one of my sisters. In order to get my Christmas gifts done, I've put aside my own afgan (which by the way is the first thing I've made - ever - for myself!).

OH! I made my daughter the cutest poncho from a pattern I found on the Lion Brand website! They have tons and tons of free patterns - crochet and knit - on their site.

Welcome! I am a crocheter also. I enjoy making baby blankets and afghans. I give them as birthday presents. Right now I am finishing up a simple shawl for my sis-in-law. I have other blankets and afghans started, when I get bored with one, I pick up another. They seem to get done quicker that way.

Howdy! Yep, I crochet. This time of year always makes me want to play with string. :D

I always start projects so haphazardly -- I think I mostly like buying yarn, and having yarn, and rolling around in yarn, and eating yarn -- no, wait, that's my cat who does that.

At present I'm involved in making sixty zillion little hexagons. Makes a great fidget while chatting online -- couple stitches, type a little, couple stitches -- next thing you know you have a stack of little wool pancakes that want to be an afghan. ^_^
