ANY Quilters?

Hi, I am new to these forums!

I also just started quilting a month ago. I've completed one quilt, and just sandwiched my second.

I like to work with batik fabrics, because of their brilliance of color.

I can't post a link to a picture yet, because I'm so new, but I will as soon as I am able.

I'm excited that there are other quilters here, and I look forward to picking your brains!

Might as well start now.... is it possible to do a binding completely by machine? I used a machine to attach it to my last quilt, then blindstitched it to the back by hand, and my hands were just KILLING me by the time I was done.... If it's possible to do it all by machine, it would be so much easier on me!

I'm also new and just found this thread I love to quilt and have been for about 17yrs. Yes you can bind by machine but it really looks nice when attached by machine and finished by hand. A stitch that works well is one called a ladder stitch. This stitch is illistrated well by both Elleanor Burns and I believe Kaye Woods Quilting is addictive

Heya again.

I finished the double nine patch for my cousin's wedding; it made her cry (partly because I told her she was like the sister I never had). She even took it on her honeymoon with her.

Currently I'm doing a kaleidoscope quilt with an assortment of fabrics ranging from probably the 40s to the present. There are 4 generations of cloths, blankets, school jumpers, and quilting scraps in the quilt so far. It's an anniversary present for my grandparents because they gave me most the scraps from their hoard of 'stuff' in their basement. Poor grandpa doesn't know he's getting back some of the fabric he thought he got rid of for good.

Other project is one for my new 2nd cousin coming in July. I consider her a new niece, though. It's a minature irish crosses quilt (sort of like the ocean waves, but with a color scheme so there are crosses where 4 blocks join) just suited for a baby. Anyone have tips on piecing right triangles? They're giving me fits; they slip in the machine, I can't get the points to line up, the pieces are going askew.

It is possible, depending on the project, I have a specialty binding foot that I can use for the straight edges. If I can't use that foot, I do some very careful stitch in the ditch to get the back side of the binding on.

Hi ya'll

I am new to this site and have started my 1st quilt. carrying on a family tradition I guess, my grandma had a quilting bee at her house once a year. I use to sit under the quilt while the ladies sat around the fram quilting (this was back in the 60's) .
