Hello,

'Allow' is a tricky verb. It could suggest simple license to do a thing. The thing done may be just one of several options or possibilities. Fate means cannot be otherwise and thus precludes options other than the conclusion itself. Does Islam hold to such a view?

Salam to everybody ,

Infact I thought to write this topic for the sake of pure knowledge not for blind argument or any other purpose .

I know that there are many persons here who may don't know much about Islam ( real Islam ) . So I am writing this thread .If any one wants to know something about Islam he can ask and I will try to give him a complete and sufficient answer as much as I can .

this is a personal attempt which devoted only to serious people to clarify some ambiguity about my religion which I am proud about .

I have never understand why the women must wear hijab or niqab, gloves and socks. Then they think the are modest and protected.I have never seen in Quran that you shall dress like that.Yes it say you shall hide the beautifulest you have.We Christian women can dress modest without to hide us

Hi Raja,

Could you explain the notion of fate in Muslim belief?

Hi Orontes

In fact the notion of fate in Islam is simple and at the same time is quite difficult !

But I will try my best to make it easy . first thing we have to shed light at the word " Islam " itself which means " absolute submitting " . submitting to whom ? To Allah the Almighty.
This means that Muslim should have a very deep and strong believing in Allah . He must realize that everything around him is controlled by Allah including Fate .

But this may raise an important question : does man is driven or voluntary (having power of free choice) ?

The answer is a mixture of these two . man is driven in some cases and he has the power of free choice in other cases .

Man can not choose his parents , birthplace , color , etc . he can not know where he will die or when death will come . he has no hand in all these cases . but he has the choice to be a Muslim or Christian or Jewish . He has the choice to believe in God or not . he can be a good man or bad one , he can do good deeds or bad deeds . in all these situations , man have the power of free choice so it does not make sense if anyone comes and says " I am a believer because I am driven , I have no choice in this ! "

Same thing if someone comes and argues , for exapmle , that he has chose his color and his height !

And this is so fair from God to give man the free choice , to believe or not believe in God ! there is no force or impose , man has to choice then bear the responsibility of his choice . and because of this freedom there will be reward or punishment for every man in the Day of Judgment.

Let us return to the concept of Fate. Muslims know that anything happens in this earth is happened with the will of Allah . there is not thing can happen beyond Allah's will . so we have the concept of " Dua'a " which is very vital in our doctrine , means asking Allah to give us the good and lead us to the right way and keep us away from every bad thing.

In Islam , as a natural result of that " absolute submitting" , every Muslim is aware about three important issues related with the matter of Fate :

1) each Muslim has to accept Fate with its dual sides " good and bad " , we should not accept Fate just if it is good and reject bad Fate .
2) Muslim knows that his knowledge- as a human being - is limited and God only has the ultimate knowledge about everything . so whatever might be come ( good fate or bad fate ) does not always means the direct meaning . for example one may meet bad fate but there is good thing inside it and verse versa !
so Allah says about this in Qura'an :

but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not.
2:116

and in each case ( bad or thing fate ) Muslim should be satisfied and patient . if he met good fate he should thank God . if he met bad fate he should not blame God and just be patient , ask God to soothe his pain and help him in his catastrophe .

3) Muslims know good that Allah is the Beneficent and the Merciful. He does not want to torture his creatures , however , He may try them with some hard situations to know who will be steadfast :

And surely We shall try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and crops; but give glad tidings to the steadfast, Who say, when a misfortune striketh them: Lo! we are Allah's and Lo! unto Him we are returning.
Such are they on whom are blessings from their Lord, and mercy. Such are the rightly guided.
2:155-156-157

so wherever a Muslim meets good fate he believes that this is from Allah and he thanks Him for this ,wherever he meets bad fate he knows also that this too is from Allah but it comes not because Allah wants to torture him but this maybe came because the sins and faults of the man himself .

this is the notion of Fate in Muslims belief . I hope I could make it simple and understood , however , if you still have any question about it you just ask .

Just as Jesus was Perfect? A religion can be "perfect" but not all the people in it are "perfect".

Was muhammad "Perfect" when Gabriel supposedly vistited him? If Islam is perfect, why are not ALL mulsims "perfect"?

Dear LittleLambofJesus

Human beings – during the history – can never be " perfect " as a whole . and this is a natural thing otherwise why God has sent prophet after prophet ?

Religion is a fixed and steady thing . but humans are not . so they go through moments of rising and moments of decay too !

In this case , you can't blame religion or prophet because religion is sent by God as a complete and perfect entity , and prophets have done their best to let people know about religion and what Allah wants from them .

Mohammad peace be upon him – and so all prophets – were perfect but their followers were – and still – changeable !

I am not talking about people because I my self admitted that most Muslims nowadays are not good followers of their prophet Mohammad. So I said that Islam as a religion has no fault and so Mohammad as a holly and noble prophet .

And I am not proud of this , we as Muslims should reform our selves and be good followers of our noble prophet and religion .

Thanks a lot for your comment my friend .

If christianity is the true religion, why aren't all christians perfect. Sorry LLoJ, I just thought your premise was wrong, and I thought it be better for me to say it because you might listen hearing it from a christian. I don't think Raja intended this thread to become like another fierce argument.

I think your comment is close to the former comment so let me answer in more details . :)

Look my friend , there is something very important we should know before we go through this assumption .

You may think that there are different religions in the world , ( I am talking about the heavenly religions ) Judaism , Christianity and Islam .

But we – as Muslims – believe that there is only one religion which accepted and sent by God . you may think that I will say it is Islam and I am saying that because it is my religion . but in fact I am saying that because we don’t look at Judaism or Christianity as different religions !

It is a series of names but they refer to one thing . the problem is the people of Judaism and Christianity has distorted many facts and always wanted to differentiate their religions , they refused to admit that it is a one constant series and Islam is the last part in this circle .

So when I said Islam is a perfect religion , it was not a matter of " true " and " false " . or who have the right and true religion . if you want me to make it easier to you let me say " Christianity is perfect and so Judaism " but unfortunately when I say that I am not talking about recent Christianity or Judaism which exist now because these religions have been distorted by their men themselves .

The difference between these religions (Christianity and Judaism ) and Islam is that Islam does not face any distorting in its concepts and its scripts , the flaw reside in the application of Islam in real life by Muslims.

Allah has clarified this meaning in Qura'an in many verses :

He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
3:3
and one of the wonder of this verse that it talks about the three Holly books and it exists in the " Third " Sura and " Third " verse " of that Sura!:)

This meaning is reveled in many places in Qura'an , confirming the same issue : please try to contemplate in these verses :

Lo! religion with Allah (is) The Surrender (to His will and guidance). Those who (formerly) received the Scripture differed only after knowledge came unto them, through transgression among themselves. Whoso disbelieveth the revelations of Allah (will find that) Lo! Allah is swift at reckoning.
3:19

Abraham was not a Jew, nor yet a Christian; but he was an upright man who had surrendered (to Allah), and he was not of the idolaters.
3:67

When Allah made (His) covenant with the Prophets, (He said): Behold that which I have given you of the Scripture and knowledge. And afterward there will come unto you a messenger, confirming that which ye possess. Ye shall believe in him and ye shah help him. He said: Do ye agree, and will ye take up My burden (which I lay upon you) in this (matter)? They answered: We agree. He said: Then bear ye witness. I will be a witness with you.
3:81

Say (O Muhammad): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and that which was vouchsafed unto Moses and Jesus and the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered.
3:84

And whoso seeketh as religion other than the Surrender (to Allah) it will not be accepted from him, and he will be a loser in the Hereafter.
3:85

Say: Allah speaketh truth. So follow the religion of Abraham, the upright. He was not of the idolaters.
3:95

the verses which talk about this concept are many , I am just chose some to make it clear to you . to make you understand what I meant by saying that and why I am saying it .

So let me repeat and say again , yes , Islam – as a religion – has no fault and it is perfect . and I myself challenge any one to give me just a fault or a flaw in Islam's concepts or in its noble book " the Holly Qura'an " . I am not saying that from the perspective of Bigotry but simply because it just a truth which has many proves in reality .

Let me tell you that once in Russia they had to apply the concepts and rules of patrimony which mentions in Islam . however , in some Islamic countries they don’t apply these Islamic rules ! so do you understand now what I have meant by saying that Islam is perfect not Muslims of today ?

don’t tell me about Muslims themselves because most of them now are full of mistakes and they mislead the right direction of their religion . you get what I mean now ?

if I have any doubt in Islam as a religion I would not be here spending my time and efforts , trying to tell you about Islam , trying to manifest its greatness and truthfulness , rather I would spend time in looking for a perfect religion , a religion which can prove to be immaculate and deserve to be followed .

So let me repeat and say again , yes , Islam – as a religion – has no fault and it is perfect
I have never seen perfection yet in any "religon". Only God is perfection and judaism, christianity and islam all follow God from what I here.

Romans 2:1 Therefore, thou art inexcusable, O man--every one who is judging--for in that in which thou dost judge the other, thyself thou dost condemn, for the same things thou dost practise who art judging,
if I have any doubt in Islam as a religion I would not be here spending my time and efforts , trying to tell you about Islam , trying to manifest its greatness and truthfulness , rather I would spend time in looking for a perfect religion , a religion which can prove to be immaculate and deserve to be followed .
Wasn't Jesus the perfect "religion"? We also look at the Writings of Paul as inspired Scripture instead of the Koran, so we will always differ in the ways we interpret the Holy Bible and the "Perfect" religion.

Perhaps muslims [and jews] don't understand the meaning of "AGE" in the Scriptures?

Romans 12:2 and be not conformed to this Age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, for your proving what [is] the will of God--the good, and acceptable, and perfect.

Matthew 24:3 And when he is sitting on the mount of the Olives, the disciples came near to him by himself, saying, `Tell us, when shall these be? and what [is] the sign of thy presence, and of the full end of the Age?'

Dear Orontes

I want to make it so clear so let me talk about the Islamic view about God The Almighty .

For us , God is beyond words and descriptions , His strong is beyond human's imagination . he is the creator and the Tremendous . as a weak mortal I can't find great words which may be suitable to talk about Him , as He Himself says about His grandness :

He is Allah, than whom there is no other God, the Knower of the invisible and the visible. He is the Beneficent, the Merciful.

He is Allah, than whom there is no other God, the Sovereign Lord the Holy One, Peace, the Keeper of Faith, the Guardian, the Majestic, the Compeller, the Superb. Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him).

He is Allah, the Creator, the Shaper out of naught, the Fashioner. His are the most beautiful names. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorifieth Him, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
59 , 22-23-24

maybe we could not choose the " right " words , but the message in this issue is very simple that God is the ultimate controller . Fate happens only by His Will . you can not escape from your fate but you can ask God to give you the good and lead you to the best . because He and only He can change fate , makes it better or worse .

I wish that the Islamic view about this issue becomes clear now.

Best regards

Salam dear sister

first of all it is Hijab :)

And let me tell you that this issue is a controversial one among Muslim scientists until recent day .

But what all Muslims have agreed with is the that Muslim woman should dress modest cloths . what this cloths should be it does not matter .

Muslim woman must not expose her beautifulness or her body to everyone . some women may exaggerate in this , and unfortunately other may indulge in it !

But what Islam always ask for is " moderateness " in every thing . in manners , behaviors , cloths etc ..

Islam aims to create a highly society where everything is clear and sublime . I am here to tell you about Islam's principles themselves not about Muslims' behaviors nowadays .

Besides that let me tell you something about this matter , which is the exaggeration in hiding their parts with cloves , socks as you noticed .

Most of Arabian countries are sunny and very bright , and this may hurt skin and make it darker . so Arabian girls hide their bodies from the sunlight to make them smoother and lighter . so you may see that it is an aesthetic side of this matter . :D

Finally I want to say that Islam is never tend to be a sophisticated religion or aims to abuse woman . On the contrary , Islam always try to promote the status of woman . let me give you a very simple example about that issue regarding to the matter of Hijab :

If you have a precious jewelers when you will keep them ?

In the garden or in the street ? or maybe above the table of dinner in your living room ?

Sure you will try to find a very safe and secure place for these valuable jewelers . the same thing with Islam and its treating with the woman, woman – in Islam – is like a valuable jewelers , in fact she is the most valuable creation on earth . so Islam tries to protect her and save her modesty and femininity as well as you will do your best to keep and save your precious jewelers !:)
