So what you are saying is, that some of these pastors value the dollar over the truth and integrity. Yeah ok--I see it clearly now.

You might do better to ask yourself why we have such an intolerant, Romish church system and fear-plagued spiritual environment where this sort of thing even takes place, rather than mocking, judging and condemning pastor's who are forced into this unfortunate situation.

But, that would be asking far too much I am sure. :|

It is the height of spiritual abuse as well as cult tactics to force a minister to choose between his livelihood and fidelity to Scripture, especially when such a choice should NEVER even have to exist in a supposed 'Bible-believing' denomination.

Not that you Trads even remotely care, you just go on in your merry theological witchhunts and slaver over your pound of 'apostate' clergy flesh and blood.

Honestally if I were not a SDA and I heard some of the sermons being preached by the evangelists in my church, I would have walked out and never come back. One of them being a perfection theology sermon.

Have you ever wondered why retirement almost always ushers in a change in theology among pastors?

I found out after having my own doctrinal issues that at least two of my fellow pastors in my area had problems with at least one fundamental.

Of the two who had problems with fundamentals one took the approach of stating his objections--carefully but clearly-- to his members. The other simply said he loves preaching the gospel so he is not going to worry about all that.

I talked to one scholar before going to Andrews. He was retired. He freely admitted he had questions and disagreed with portions of our investigative judgment teaching. Some of these disagreements went back decades. He urged me to stay in the church as he had, but didn't have any way to resolve the questions. When I asked him how I could be honest in teaching the doctrines he said to just present them from the perspective of "this is what our pioneers believed." That wasn't going to work for me.

Perhaps Honor you need to ask yourself the question, if the mainstream church really believed everything the way the historics do then why do we need a separate label of historic? Why do historics call themselves that? Because they believe the main stream church has departed from the historic teaching.

Why were historic churches sued for widely advertising Adventist views on prophecy?

Just ask DL. I am sure he knows of lots of pastors in the church who do not believe all the fundamentals and even some who may be staying for a check.

However, I would say most stay because they want to preach the gospel, despite the system.

So, technically, it is actually the fundamentalist historic segment that are the offshoots!!! :D

WOOT!!

Also--I don't see the word 'offshoot' as being the 'bad' word as you all seem to. By the dictionary's definition, an offshoot is simply something that is 'shooting off' from the 'main branch or group'

How are ya liking your derogatory classification NOW huh? I guess the only time it's 'not so bad' is when it is leveled at the other side!

In the eyes of some, pastors are not allowed to question. And when they come to a different conclusion through careful study and the leading of the Holy Spirit, there are some who want their heads. We've all seen it happen many times, and we were VERY careful about who we discussed the issues with.

That's the bottom line Free. And shame on us for allowing the right-wing segment to create a church environment where such nonsense is even necessary.

I have no respect whatsoever for rabid, fundamentalist Trads who demand that they be allowed to exert this much cultic mind-control over our clergy. It is wrong and we need to fight it bitterly as well as agitate until we see the needed reform take place.
