I guess I'm a "leftist radical". I believe that capitalism is to society as steroids are to athletes. It produces short term gains but long term disaster.
I believe that capitalistic enterprises should be strictly regulated.
I believe that no one should be allowed to make more than four or five times the minimum wage in the industry in which they work.
I believe that excessive individual wealth should not be allowed, and to prevent such we should resort to progressive taxes only.
I believe that no corporation should be allowed to own real property to include stock in any company but its own.
I believe that every corporation should have in its articles of incorporation a statement of purpose, and it should be forbidden to deviate from that purpose. For example, a tobacco company should not be allowed to enter the grocery business. Newspapers should not own radio or TV stations.
Public utilities, such as electricity, water, gas, and communications should be publicly owned.
Every corporation should be time limited. After a stated time, it should be liquidated. This would help minimize the danger of monopolies.
No non-governmental institution should be granted tax-exempt status.
Convicted felons should be stripped of all real and personal property, and measures should be taken to ensure they never offend again. (This should not be considered a punitive measure. It is societal self-defense.)
Anyone engaging in the business of any type of "insurance" should be publicly put to death, as slowly and painfully as possible. This may be considered punishment, but I think it needs to be done.
