Any fellow Calvinists want to help me out?

Is being a stalker also displaying a disgraceful attitude?
No it is not. But then I was not and am not doing any such thing. I have posted in the Baptist forum recently regarding "To whom do we pray" - see below. On checking this thread I was dismayed to find the above.

Probably a silly question.

In Church, when praying, I have been used to praying to God and finishing with something such as " we ask this in Jesus Name."

I have recently moved to a new church and it seem prayers are addressed mainly to "Holy Spirit". This is a Baptist Church which is more Charismatic than I am used to (not saying this wrong or anything).

This kind of jars with me, probably cos I am old school. I would appreciate others points of view on this.

Sometimes it's best to walk away as someone else stated.

The words of men don't convert the heart. We can only plant a seed and pray for the Lord to soften their heart and the Spirit to move in them and bring them to regenerative, saving faith.

This is not a faith-specific issue, either. There are a great many ideologies people subscribe to and are wholly invested in their understanding of 'truth'. Calvinism and its opponents are no different. I am a Calvinist, or at least Reformed Baptist(hey, at least I have one foot in... ;)) and I believe a great many of the doctrines to be objectively true, but I have to concede that others holding different beliefs also believe their ideology is objectively true as well and to engage them in debate, even when spelling errors out in plain English, only entrenches them in their own belief and closes them off to other arguments.

It's sad, but yeah, not a lot we can do. We see it with politics(The Republican/Democrat divide is a good example), sexuality, gender and especially religion regarding denominational, ecclesiastical and doctrinal issues. Pray for them. The Lord can do more in a blink of an eye than we can stressing ourselves out losing a battle on Earth only the Lord can win -- heck, a battle the Lord has already determined, whether they know it yet or not.

Prayer is the key.

"I have a live one here" - You display a disgraceful attitude.

I have been a member here since 2005. I cannot count how many debates in both the Baptist and Soteriology areas I have been involved.

That is not "disgraceful attitude", its calling it for what it is.

When Jesus looked at the Pharisees and called them "whited sepulchres" was that "disgraceful attitude"?

When Paul, called the Sanhedrin "thou whited wall" and was slapped, was he showing "disgraceful attitude"?

Calling a spade a spade is not entirely a bad thing.

Go back about 10 years and search this area for threads by Gordon Slocum or Benefactor.

Go to the Soteriology area and do the same, this time add Ben Johnson.

After about 3-400 debates on this, it just don't make any sense to continue.

If they are serious, invite them to the Calvinist area to "Debate a Calvinist" in the Semper Reformanda area.

Otherwise, I'd ignore it.

God Bless

Till all are one.

Long ago I stopped debating for Calvinism/Reformed Theology. It's not that I don't care, nor is it that I don't believe Theology to be important. I simply find it a waste of time to debate with other believers on social media. If the individual I am witnessing to is one of the elect then they will come to faith. I share my witness regardless, but there is a difference between sharing the Gospel and arguing Theology. I do however enjoy reading or watching debates and even being involved in one every now and then, but only in a formal setting and with people I know well.

I beg to differ.

Theology does make a difference, a big difference.

When you come to faith, and your baptized, does God keep you and no one can take you out of His hand, or is it up to you to keep yourself saved?

Are you baptized because you are saved, or are you baptized in order to be saved?

Is your nature, so injured by the fall, that unless the Lord draw you, you can't come, or has the fall on slightly injured you so that you can come of your own free will?

Theology does matter, and it matters big time.

God Bless

Till all are one.
