I am running LauncherPro now and my phone has rebooted itself once since then. I'm waiting to see if it will be any more stable over time.

Phone reboots won't really be affected by the launcher, in this case. Perhaps you have an application installed that is causing it. I've had my phone reboot randomly before. But unless it was caused by the ROM (I have a rooted phone), it is a very rare experience.

I had that issue as well.

I went to the market and got audiomanager. Its free and gives you some more settings to play with for volume.

Maybe it will help you.

Well I just upgraded to a Samsung Epic 4G on the first. So far its a great phone, except for the volume. The ring volume is up all the way and also on a christian radio app I have the media volume all the way up and they dont play very loud.

Running a rooted EVO... wife has rooted, "Froyoed" Hero.

Putting Froyo on her device just gave her a new phone. The ability to do that is a big positive for the OS.

Anyhoo, make sure y'all check out YouVersion. Great tool for Christians.

I seem to have found the source of the reboot issue. Lookout Mobile (anti-virus) may be the cause. I uninstalled most of my apps, as I wasn't using them anyway. That left me with three apps that had been around the entire time. I replaced one and still rebooted, so I put it back. Since I replaced Lookout, it hasn't rebooted since (may have happened while I slept, but it doesn't seem to have). So, I'll keep my new anti-virus on there. It's a company I have actually heard of anyway.

From what I understand, Lookout Mobile is pretty legit. You may want to send them a bug report after a few more days so you can reliably determine whether or not it's what's causing your reboots.

I've never had a problem with how it worked and nothing to question that they are a legit company. If I don't see a reboot again within a couple weeks, I'll send them a notice.

I've had a mytouch 4g running Froyo for a few months. I love this thing.
Thanks for the heads up. Looking to switch from ios to android.
Right now I was looking at the mytouch, epic, evo and optimus ..
Oh. and I am even considering windows phone but prolly no.
Don't have much info on the win ph.

Wow i'm behind, i haven't heard of half these phones you guys are talking about!
hard to keep up isn't it!

My eldest son got me a HTC Evo.

It is a very nice phone. Takes very nice pictures and has an app that I can use my camera as a magnifying glass when I can't read small print. My old eyes don't see as well as they used to. I put a 32gb card in it, lots of room for everything.
Just out of curiosity.
How do you listen to podcasts and things that I normally use itunes for ?

Thanks so much for sharing that. I listen to my iphone 24/7 and prefer no earbuds for podcasts.

The guy at the sprint store was really pushing that epic today.
(it's the phone he wants to buy so I'm sure it's way cool)
I am looking at the EVO if the volume is an issue on epic...
 ty

I am not a fan of Samsung Android devices. They tend to provide shoddy support IMHO. However, if a physical keyboard is a must, it ain't a bad device.

Low volume should not be an issue. Having said that, most combo devices are simply made to be used with headphones or speakers.

Niobium, I hated to remove Lookout, but there were some issues reported. Plus, it's antivirus functionality is not proven, so I was only using it for misplacement. Since Plan B purports to do the same thing, I opted to conserve internal memory. As soon as I removed Lookout, issues disappeared.

Ok, Just curious. For people with Sprint having Evo, Evo Shift or Epic.
I have an Epic and like it for the most part. Comes with a 16gb sd card but lacks on internal memory @ 458mb making it slower overall. As of a couple days ago, it now randomly shuts off. Tomorrow is my 30th day from my upgrading allowing me to be able to exchange. Im looking into exchanging for a Evo shift. It has 1gb internal memory but you sacrifice the 16gb card for a 2 gb. I read up, alot of people say they love the evo shift, love the epic, hate the evo shift, hate the epic, so IdK, any opinions before I go exchange in about 11hrs?

My daughter and her hubby love their evos.
They bought them a year ago and he uses
his for everything. He works two jobs plus
working on his second masters degree...
so he's mobile almost 24/7

Only problem they've had is when he had water damage.

Well I went ahead and done it, and exchanged it for an HTC Evo Shift. Im pretty pleased with it. I miss some features that the Epic had, but the sacrifice of those features was worth it. The Evo is not as bogged down with bloatware as the Epic is.

Don't listen to podcasts so I wouldn't know.

As for some music, video and pictures I have on it I simply plug it into the computer and it becomes a hard drive. I then copy over what I want back and forth into folders.

I'm sure there are some podcast apps for android. They probably work just like iphone.

Just out of curiosity.

I have just the Evo.

It is a great phone, does calls really well. That's why you should get a phone not solely for the computer part.

The screen is big and I need that. It is great video and good sound especially with headphones or speakers.

It is fast and does the job. But get a big card for it 16gb at the least. J&R has a 32gb card for 70.00 with free shipping and that is what I use.

If you can afford it, get it.
