Either is fine but you won't need the keyboard unless you need to text in silence.

The phone has an app for text where you can just talk to it and then it makes the text and then you send it.

I don't text much because I would rather just phone the person up.

I get texts more than I send them. To me I don't get text when I have a phone. Unless you want no one to know what you are doing or need to be quiet I see no use for it.

Of course if you need to be quiet you might not need to text anyway. And if you are trying to keep your conversations on the QT, well then what kind of talk are you doing?

Thanks for your post. Im the same way, real techy and on my phone alot, not talking but more by texting and browsing apps. Im pretty much thinking that the Evo shift is the route im gonna go.

I love how it distorts my texts when I send those. It's like the Iphone auto correct. I suppose I could slow down and speak more clearly, but what's the fun in that?

I have just the Evo.

It is a great phone, does calls really well. That's why you should get a phone not solely for the computer part.

The screen is big and I need that. It is great video and good sound especially with headphones or speakers.

It is fast and does the job. But get a big card for it 16gb at the least. J&R has a 32gb card for 70.00 with free shipping and that is what I use.

If you can afford it, get it.

Sweet heavens! :D You must have a lot of media!!!

I use Dropbox HEAVILY, so I am able to save on external memory and have all my media right available.

I don't have a lot stored on it.

I have it because the video takes a lot of room and I am always filming something.

Got ya... yep, videos will take up space.

I originally was gonna spring for a bigger card (I do our church media, pics, documents, and I need them handy), but I discovered Dropbox and use it for storage.

I just dont like to talk on the phone. I talk in person and I'll talk on it if I am called, but otherwise text is just easier for me.

Can you record directly to this?

Or do you record have to stop and then upload and then clear and then record some more?

You'd have to stop, upload and then continue.

I manage our corporate Youtube account, and what I generally do is record clips, and upload to Youtube. For longer videos, pics, etc I upload to Dropbox.

The advantage is that I have access to it from every computer I use (home, work, laptop, hotel computer) and my device, if need be. Dropbox syncs the documents, and allows me to save device storage.

I work almost entirely with young people. Texting is something I must do.

It does help when I am busy too... I can communicate in short bursts with multiple people. Even the parents of the kids I work with communicate via text (and FB).

Just out of curiosity.
How do you listen to podcasts and things that I normally use itunes for ?

I dont listen to any podcasts, but I done some searching in Android market for you. The two best apps for that that I could find, are "Stitcher Podcast Radio" and PodKast, both have high ratings and should be worth checking out if your wanting to listen to podcasts on an android device! Hope this helps!

Out of curiosity, has anyone here gotten the chance to try or owns an Asus Transformer tablet? Been looking at that one and wondered if anyone had any personal impressions on it, reviews so far have been quite positive with it.

I have the Acer Iconia A500, and my friend has the Asus Transformer with the keyboard dock. It's pretty sweet, and the battery life with the keyboard is +6 hours, which is a great plus. We have traded for several days, and I am not sure which I prefer.

The Iconia has a heftier feel to it, with it's brushed aluminum back, and is heavier. I understand though, that weight would be a turn off for some. The Asus has a plastic back, and if you tap on it, it has a hollow sound. However, the Asus is smarter looking. It has a bronze tint to it and with the keyboard dock looks pretty snazzy.

Overall, if you're looking to get an Asus, and you like the plusses it has with the dock, I'd say take the plunge. My tablet has become a normal part of my life (holds a special place in my heart since I met someone near and dear to my heart through it), and I love it for its ease of convenience.

The only difference between them hardware wise is the Acer has DDR3 memory while the Asus has DDR2. I saw no real performance differences though.
