Interesting question, I really didn't find anything disturbing, excluding the acts of christians in those types of movies.

I watched a very good movie the other day called constantine's sword, it's all about Pius XII who collaborated with Hilter to persecute the non converted Jewish peoples.

Everytime I watch a movie that is against christianity, I will try to read/watch something that is for it, so as to not be arrogant and onesided, sadly like most christians. They won't even consider looking through the eyes of an atheist, that in itself is disturbing to me.

The movie Constantine's Sword is simply another example of historical revisionism with an anti-Christian agenda, made for a credulous audience. This through the eyes of a religious person is what disturbs me about atheists so much. They claim to be logical and believe in reality but they are ready to believe anything as long as it disparages Christianity.

Jewish author defends Pope Pius XII in new book

I rarely see any evidence of critical thought or even any solid grasp of history here. There is only a blind following of Maher and Dawkins and others like them.

What does fundamentalist mean in America today?

Is it simply someone who actually believes in and practices their religion without comprimise?
Wow! This SO went into a direction I hadn't intended.

When I suggested this thread was more "anti Fundamentalism" than "anti Christian, I was simply referring to the OP (emphasis mine):
Do you think it is accurate to say that the pendulum is swinging the other way in response to the recent Evangelical/Fundametnalist/conservative Christian attempts to impose upon American culture? For example, Intelligent Design in public science classrooms, 10 Commandment monuments in courthouses, knowingly breaking the law by endorsing politics in church, Harry Potter book burnings, etc?
This is due partly to the extreme nature of Fundamentalist views, but is greatly influenced by the enthusiasm with which these views are expressed. IMO, this has little-or-nothing to do with whether the views are correct or incorrect, but is a psychological response called "resistance behavior." For example; you ask a peer to complete a task that he or she feels is beyond their ability. Their initial reaction might be "I don't know, I'm not really good at that." Now step it up, insisting they *must* do it, and the resistance increases; "No, I said I can't do it, and you can't make me!" You've successfully influenced the person to go from reluctance to defiance, simply by increasing the urgency of the original request.

The concept of positive influence and positive encouragement is well documented in a variety of self-help books, and very specifically addresses this exact phenomena.

Regards,

The irony of course is that my earlier response to you completely debunked what you've just posted.

And so far, the only accusation of rationality made against me was something about evolution. I have never even discussed this here. So all you all are doing is talking about stereotypes with no evidence to back it up. Not a very rational thing to do.

A fundamentalist is someone who practises their religion, while trampling the rights of others. So those who want creationism taught in school, jihadists, religious opposition to gay marriage etc. fall into this category as the the little strip above shows us.

As for Maher, he is neither an anti-theist, nor a anti-christian. Dawkins, Hitchens, and Dennet are anti-theists by virtue of the fact that they do wish to see religion as a blight on mankind."

"I disagree with the New Atheist movement in terms of what the problem is (and positions of individual memers), but I sympathize with them as religious favouring and pandering does seem to be up among political circles."

Given that you've ignored what i've initially posted, and what was posted in reponse to you, your blanket assertions are evidence enough to question your rationality.

What do you believe in regards to evolution?

I have never even discussed this here.

Do you need to discuss evolution in order for us to claim that people who deny evolution are delusional?

So all you all are doing is talking about stereotypes with no evidence to back it up. Not a very rational thing to do.

I could provide loads of evidence that there are these people called Christians. Some of these Christians deny the facts of evolution. Are you under the impression that these people do not exsist?

Irreconcilable differences.
