Anthropic Biosphere

Well, we HAVE observed the conditions on the moon. 50 years isn't enough time for complex life to evolve.

Indeed -- if the Moon had an atmosphere, it would probably help things along...

And yet if you encountered a group of aliens living in a biosphere on the far side of the moon, I'm sure you would assume they didn't evolve inside the biosphere; but that the biosphere was manufactured, then the aliens moved into it ... no?

But a biosphere like that is not something that could arise naturally, is it? If they are living under a glass dome, then we can conclude it is artificial, because there are no known natural processes that can produce regular glass domes with life support machines attached to them.

Consider this:

We live in a universe hostile to life on earth, yet within a biosphere that has been fine-tuned to keep us alive for awhile.

If we were to encounter a biosphere on the moon that could sustain human life, I'm sure we would conclude it was created by intelligent life.

In fact, we would probably look for the machine that is producing the biodome.

Yet for some reason, a handful of the population prefers to think differently about our biosphere; i.e., no intelligent creation under consideration.

Why do you suppose that is?

The biosphere is not fine tuned for us. We have evolved to live within it. Conditions are constantly changing so much that some animals can not adapt and they perish. The dinosaurs were adapted to live in different conditions and when conditions changed they died out.

Yeah, some things aren't natural AV. Big shock, some things are designed, and others aren't.

Ah, two possibilities, either we've evolved to fit our environment, or a an all powerful god perfectly made a universe hospitable to us. Well, not the whole universe, but some fraction of the ~100,000,000,000 stars in our galaxy has 1/8 of the planets that can support life on 1/3 of it's surface.

Maybe fish are what God designed the universe for; they at least get 2/3rd of the planet
