  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I need to get a new computer.. Can hardly run a 360p Youtube video.. Lol.

I recommend everyone pass on the Dell Vue tablets. I set up about 40 of them for a client and I was not impressed. The touchscreen would detect a single touch as 2-4 taps at a time (which is a huge pain when trying to enter a password). Some of them had bad displays, flicker problems, and times when you had to open them up to reseat the battery to get it to power on.

I'm not sure what a soul would consist of.

I never really understood the term supernatural. If there is a God he'd just be natural. Be able to be studied and understood. It's not like he'd be made of nonsense pixie dust.

Me neither but a soul has got to consist of things we cant physically find in the body right? so with all the physical parts gone what senses would be left? sounds terrifying.

It's terrifying to the ego. Not so much to the soul though.

Sounds terribly Calvinist, MehGuy. :) {I was raised Calvinist, btw)

Hmm, I'll have to look him. I don't know too much about him except for predestination, lol.

Ah yes, now that's a story that's interesting. I remember reading Shakespeare and learning Elizabethan English as a kid, and then realizing that the guys from the village were not asking the angels out for tea time. lol

I mentioned this to my mom, who was outraged...OUTRAGED. Well, until she did what I suggested and asked the pastor to clear up the confusion. It was an interesting few days till Sunday.

Then years later I finally hear the Jewish perspective on that story, and wow it's entirely different.

That's funny about your mother's outrage. I mentioned the story to my parents and they did not seem to care. My father believed that everything in the Bible was holy and there was nothing to be ashamed of. He also believed that Christians should know about how perverted the world is so we can better prepare ourselves. I guess that was one good thing, he didn't believe in sheltering. Lol.

Don't suppose you'd like a time travel wrinkle instead? Future humans may manage to figure some things out better, and might actually be confused by the many forms of evil we think we just have to live with.

Eh, I don't really like time travel. (well maybe Back To The Future, lol.)

I don't really want there to be any moral lesson in my story. I'd like the narrative to be more organic and apathetic to atrocities as I believe the universe is. I tend to drift into heavy atmosphere.

I don't even really want to focus on the technology too much. I'd like it to take a back seat and almost vanish. I was inspired by a Michio Kaku presentation about the future. He made the statement that in a way technology will be more ambiguous and blended into the scenery, you won't even notice it's there.

You guys ever think about souls, (I don't think souls exist but you know what i mean.) I mean if there are souls would they even have emotion? all the stuff to have them is in the body. being a soul would be horrible.
I have no doubt that every living thing that exist has a soul.

Contemplating the nature of our soul is a wonderful spiritual practice if one is interested in that sort of thing.

Well, it just snowed a lot today. This week it was in the high 60s and today.. pure snow..

I heard we're supposed to get thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Driving home was a nightmare. Almost slid off the road a couple of times.

It all better be gone by tomorrow..
