  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I liked the idea, the last circle was closed so hoping this would continue the Legacy.

I like the idea of this topic being open to all Races and Religions to share everyday things to deep thoughts on your Religion...

How did your day go, why?

What did you eat today, was it oriented toward nourishment or family time?

How is work and life in general like wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfiend?

Why do you believe your Fath, how was your Spiritual path growing up and now?

Where you brought up that way? What changes has your Spiritual path evolved into and how?

What type of experiences have you had with those of your Faith or others? What the World today as a whole, how do feel?

Anything really...

Please give others time to chime in and enjoy this knew idea of a writting place, I love the Native American Tradition's agreed it's varied - we want to hear what you think - please listen to us too in return.

A cicle of people's thought's left unmodded except by CFWR - just post your topic and tittle here...this is for the community based upon the popularity of the the former Circle here - I hope we always have a Circle going I've learned so much from others here.

I'll start by sharing the 'Golden Rule' in hopes we can all find roots there which I found posted here at CFW a while back.

Mostly I am just tired today because I went to bed too late and got up way too early to fix breakfast for the family that is able to take part in the Baha'i 19-day Fast.

I think I'd better be wiser tonight and go to be early enough lol

I haven't been able to fast for about 10 years due to illness. Practices like fasting and abstaining from alcohol are trumpet by doctor's orders.

The Baha'i Fast is similar to Ramadan for Muslims, except we got it easy it's only 19 days not 28. :)

I've only ever fasted for an obscure ritual I read about once. A lot of your questions have to do with faith and since I have none I cant really answer those. Today has been very nice the temperature has warmed way up to 50 degrees so i can stop wearing coats.

Lately we've been remodeling our home so much of the day was spent cleaning up around the yard for me... We had some dimmer switches installed and so on... I've also been preparing some material to share for Naw-Ruz the upcoming New Year on March 20th this year... 172 of the Baha'i Era. My wife has been fasting so was careful not to eat or drink near her. I haven't fasted this year as I'm over age.

We hope to visit some friends in the community this week and give them special invitations to attend the Naw-Ruz dinner in our home this Friday.

Gotta love dimmer switches! Adds a lot of versatility to home illumination.

I love the religious festivals especially Ramadan with the Iftar feasts. I was in Singapore last year during Ramadan and did a tour around Hajji Rd and the good food smells! Would love to go to the Middle East at some point

Enjoying the start of spring. I hate cold weather, especially having to shave and defrost my car windows every morning. I like that I can just turn the keys and drive with no worries. :)

Been writing some stories. I'd like to come up with some screenplays and send them out to anyone who might be interested.

Currently working on a science fiction/horror story, and a romance/drama story.

Mentally I've been alright. My BPD has been acting up a little bit, but I have the tools to manage it better now (although, I feel a little bad, some of my posts here for the past couple of days were kind of mean.)

Been playing Red Alert 3. Fun game, but not as good as the first two.

Thinking about getting a gym membership. I've always been small framed, and would like to bulk up as much as possible, lol.

Other than that, I'm doing fine right now.

Nice idea and thankful for it being in existence.

I have been good and processing often on the ways that Christ is truly worth exalting in all things when considering the ways that he has truly sought to save the world via the life he lived rather than simply having it where he asked others to give up their lives for him.

And I have been fascinated learning about others in my graduate school when it comes to Native American culture - one of the books I've been going through entitled Tecumseh: A Life, which deals with the principal organizer and driving force of Native-American confederacy and the extensive ways in which he helped to organize confederacies which were able to resist American colonialism - with much of it based in how his tribe (the Shawnees) saw things from a spiritual perspective and were very much focused on seeing other tribes as family..

On a side note, I see you referenced the chart I had from the previous thread I made :) :

Gxg (G²);66588776 said:
Came across this excellent map on the issue of world religions. It is in the form of a tree that shows the intersections of nearly every major religion in the world/their respective off-shoots. With the tree, the roots of the tree are automatically going to far back into time - the farthest we can go being based on how much we're aware of - many speculating that world religions really started to begin in the era of Noah after the Flood and the Tower of Babel (from which Nimrod arose to change the shape of the world after establishing Babylon alongside the worship of Ishtar and others - with his system of worship impacting the worship given before the Lord even into the time of Abraham).

Of course, we'll only be able to see once we're in heaven the full scope of history. Till then, we can know for certain that religions have always intersected - and for myself, being a believer in God/Christ, my view is that those following the Lord are impacted at every turn when it comes to the history of God's people....

In addition to that, for anyone from a theistic perspective wanting to have a basis for knowing how and where things may have merged, it's interesting examining the Abrahamic faith (beginning in Genesis 12 and Genesis 11 - continued from Genesis 4 from the era where men around the world simply called on the name of the Lord universally - global consciousness of Theism and belief in One God as the way) t....that is the root of many of the world religions and what sprung from them in their own spheres.

I live in the Northwest. It's feeling like the California drought is making it's way up north. Since the New Year it's been a mostly dry winter. The mountains are 19% of normal snow pack. We need some of that east coast snow badly.

On the good side, I'm eating out of my garden already. All cold weather stuff, but I do put plastic sheets over it. I drape it on hoops I've installed on the raised beds to keep the cold out.

It's cool here. We had some days of 70 degrees this past weekend but now we can't quite break 50. No snow at least which is nice, it usually snows up until the end of March.

Meanwhile I am working on some programming projects; mostly in the area of privacy and security. The NSA should be trying to break down my door any day now heh. Right now I'm playing with the Signal/TextSecure protocol written by one of my favorite hackers, Moxie Marlinspike. I think its coming a long way in making secure, strong encryption practical and easy to use for the average user. I'm reading into the codebase for the browser plugin right now to log some commits.

Today was pretty uneventful.

Planning to do some writing tonight. So many projects on my mind..

Usually I sit down listen to some podcast or classical/black metal music. Pretty relaxing, when I'm not confounded by writers block, lol.

The science fiction one I'm working on is kind of interesting, but I'm not sure how dark I want to go. It's pretty much about the total depravity of man. As a kid I was always interested in the Bible stories about Sodom and Gomorrah and the End times. When people were reportedly profoundly evil, lol.

Just some super charged empathy.

Although I am unsure whether or not I'd like to add aliens to the story. I would like to contrast humanity with other more civil beings. The problem is that I've always hated alien designs. No matter what you do, they always look hokey. If I did include them, they'd be very human in appearance.

Probably best not too though, lol.

I'm still hoping to make it to my favorite Lebanese place during Ramadan.

We still have two days of the Baha'i Fast, then Nawruz (our New Year). Friday I expect to be baking for our Nawruz plans.

I have a friend who can't get out much other than to doctors appointments, so we take the Holy Day to her and her husband.

I'm looking forward to my semiannual crab dinner. woohoo!

Sounds terribly Calvinist, MehGuy. :) {I was raised Calvinist, btw)

Ah yes, now that's a story that's interesting. I remember reading Shakespeare and learning Elizabethan English as a kid, and then realizing that the guys from the village were not asking the angels out for tea time. lol

I mentioned this to my mom, who was outraged...OUTRAGED. Well, until she did what I suggested and asked the pastor to clear up the confusion. It was an interesting few days till Sunday.

Then years later I finally hear the Jewish perspective on that story, and wow it's entirely different.

Although I am unsure whether or not I'd like to add aliens to the story. I would like to contrast humanity with other more civil beings. The problem is that I've always hated alien designs. No matter what you do, they always look hokey. If I did include them, they'd be very human in appearance.

Too many aliens have built old archaological wonders as it is. *facepalm*

Don't suppose you'd like a time travel wrinkle instead? Future humans may manage to figure some things out better, and might actually be confused by the many forms of evil we think we just have to live with.

Half a foot of snow is predicted for tomorrow (which is the first day of spring).

Was at a client site yesterday and for the first time, I heard the term "Christian Laptops", referring to laptops that crashed and had to be re-imaged to factory defaults (reborn). I wonder how they would have felt if they knew a NeoPagan rebuilt them.

"Our Christian Laptops are loaded with Neopagan malware! Throw them out!!"

I'm just about to image some old laptops and throw various Linux distros on them. Not for a client or anything, just breathing some new life into old machines. :)
